Well, the project is completed, and I am a very happy camper. This guitar turned out better than I'd hoped when I first started flirting with the idea. It's exactly what I want out of a strat-style guitar.
Classic strat sounds from the neck and middle pickups, smoothed out just a little thanks to the Alnico 2 magnets (Duncan Alnico II Pros) with a slightly overwound bridge pickup that has some major attitude due to a copper plated brass baseplate (Duncan Twangbanger). Very nice blues/classic rock setup here. The blend control scheme adds a lot of versatility as well.
The neck is an absolute joy to play on, nice and thick with a soft V shape in the lower registers that tapers to a C higher up. And to top it all off, she's quite the looker IMO .
This has been a very satisfying experience all around, this baby's a keeper. That's sweet--did you make the body and neck yourself or did you piece it together? I've got a 76 Washburn strat body (basswood) with a 90 or 91 Fender neck and it plays and sounds great. Not as good as a higher end Fender but better than the MIM amp; MIJ strats I've played.
Got any sound bytes?
bro...you know what I think! I happy for you, and glad you got it done!
I love your initials on the head stock!!!! How did you do it?

Man...gorgeous! I really like that color scheme. Have fun with it!
Very Cool! Did you go with a blender pot? Highly recommended.
Looks like it turned out very well, nice job.
I'm glad you can enjoy a strat like your fellow strat-lovers on the forum.
And posting a link as to how you got the headstock decal would be awesome.
Rock On
PS: Long live locking tuners and an LSR roller nut, serious tuning stability.
Lemme see if I can answer all these questions .
I pieced it together, Fender body, USA Customs neck, various parts (Callaham, Graphtech, Duncan, Sperzel, blah blah blah)
I did indeed go with a blender pot, it's master volume/master tone/blend, VERY cool!
The initials I got from You can custom design a text sticker, they have a couple hundred fonts to choose from, different colors, sizes, and they're pretty cheap (my design cost $6, and they sent me 3 of 'em).
The whole project ran me about $750 for the parts, so it came out less than buying a new Strat and upgrading all the parts I'd want to change. Plus I got a neck that's made EXACTLY to my specs .
Thats beautiful! We're getting clips soon . . . right?
Love the pearl pickguard.

I wish guys, but I have no recording apparatus at the moment .
Awesome. Good luck with it.
That guitars awesome. I love the birds eye/flamed maple neck.
man that looks great.
One question-minus the fender body, how much was everything else in total? I'm thinking of building something nice and want to know price-wise what i'd be looking at.

Around $600, but I went all out in a few areas you could really save some money in. I'll list all the quot;majorquot; parts real quick:
USACG neck
Fender trem plate
Callaham trem block
Graphtech Ferraglide saddles
Duncan A2P amp; Twangbanger pickups
CTS pots/Switchcraft jack/orange drop cap
Metal mini-dome knobs
The pickguard I snagged off ebay, and the matching backplate I got from Warmoth.
EDIT: Forgot the Sperzel tuners.
Speaking of the backplate, no pics of the back yet...
Looks awesome! Nice job!
lookin' good man...NICE WORK!!
-Mike
Thanks guys .
