i can NEVER get past the stupid looking control layout on those guitars. who thought it would look good to put all three knobs in a row on a guitar with a curved bottom? the middle knob should be lower to help follow the curve of the body. plus moving them fowards (to the neck) a tiny bit more wouldn't be a bad idea.

I dont really see the layout as a huge problem, wouldn't stop me buying it. I love that finish!

EDIT: actualy, your right, that layout is pretty annoying... looked okay first time i saw it.

Yup..not only annoying to look at but a pain to get used to..I had a sunburst/studio, whatever... very briefly about 12 years ago..I couldn't stand the control layout...Same with the McCarty...looks a bit better but I hate where the switch is on that too...but the knobs aren't as bad.

Gorgeous guitar though.

I guess it's a matter of taste, that control thingie. I have one and it's waaaay more ergonomic than my LP. Style wise I think they copped it from the LP Jr. and Explorer thing.

On another subject, what is a Vanguard Studio? I can't find it on Hamers website.

IIRC, the Artist model was originally named the Vanguard; Hamer had to rename the guitar due to a trademark issue.

That said, the guitar sure looks like a Studio to me, not a Vanguard.

I Hate sunbursts. But This one actully looks really nice.

As far as the control layout. I personally prefer the hamer layout Over typical Lp style. But then again, I learned to Play on a Hamer. If Only I hadn't sold that guitar

I love the control layout on Hamers and while a lot of people like the 3-way toggle on the top, I find it on the bottom as being much more useful.

However, Hamers are horrible guitars. Stay away from them, especially the US ones, those are the worst!

I love sunburst but I have to agree on the tone controls. I agree the middle tone control could have been lowed a bit to form a gentle triangle. It would llok more curved and contour and add beauty to the over all look of the guitar

Like it or not, the steady increase in prices of new Hamers, and the increase in awaerness of the brand lately is driving up the used prices too. This is great if you have a bunch... but just like vintage Gamp;F guitars, if you don't get in early, you'll only moan about the quot;good old daysquot; later.
