So I have an American BC Rich Bich and a Mockingbird and both have a Jazz in the neck and a Custom in the bridge. The Mockingbird has a TOM bridge and the Bich has a original Floyd. My question is this, even with the same electronics the Bich has a fatter rounder thicker tone than the Mockingbird. The woods on both are the same mahogany wings with mahogany neck thru and flamed maple top, ebony fret board. Same pots same pickups. The Mockingbird just sounds hotter, punchier cripser... just wondering if anyone had an idea about this. I have another Mockingbird coming today and it has some kinda dimarzios in it i was thinking of tryin them in the bich to maybe thin out the tone or make it hotter? Opinions? comments? insults?

are the pickups the same distance from the strings? also i've found that guitars with pickups that mount directly to the body have a fatter/punchier sound then those not mounted directly.

both guitars use mounting rings and i believe that they are the same distance apart. both have 24 frets and are 24.5 scale

Well I guess that body shape has an effect. Woods are unique pieces, even if of the same species. Even guitars with identical specs all around will sound a bit different from each other. The bridge is a big part of sound.
