Well, I'm no closer to a decission on what to put in my strat....so I figure, I'll try this another way.

Sound off with what pickups are in your strat (or strats)...and why kind of music do you play...

I have Duncan Antiquitys in most of my Strats...

Original '63 Pickups in my old '63.

Fralin Vintage Hot neck and middle and SP-43 bridge in one.

Duncan Noiseless Stack Plus in one.

Duncan APS-1 and Twangbanger in my Hamer Strat.

I think the best sounding Strat I own is the one with the Duncan Antiquity Surf neck and middle and the Antiqutiy Texas Hot Custom for the bridge.

1-MIM 96 TexMex strat..... Stock pickups-(not the best sounding guitar so i returned it to stock and may sell it oneday)

2-1999 Mexican Standard-Duncan Custom humbucker in bridge and stock single coils in neck middle

3-1994 MIM strat-Hotrails.....

4-1988 American Standard-JB in Bridge.... Fender noiseless in the neck and middle... The noiseless PU's are way under powered for the output of the JB so i will have to change something.... The Noiseless were just thrown in to make the guitar complete...

5-95 Warmoth custom made strat- Dimarzio PAF pros and a Lace Sensor

6-custom made strat-Old Dimarzio Double Whammy.....

Antiquities

My 1989 Strat used to have three Gold Lace Sensors in them....Now it has....1. Bridge - Original Paralel Axis Trembucker
2. Middle - Cool Rails
3. Neck - 59 Humbucker

It is also equipped with the Fender Eric Clapton Midrange Boost circuitry....

I play Blues/Rock/Classic rock.....I find my Strat versatile in sounds for those applications..........

1994 American Standard Strat - Little 59 bridge, stock middle and neck

1993 Frankenstrat Parts-O-Caster - Soon: DiMarzio PAF bridge, Duncan APS-1 neck.

87-88 MIA Strat with stock singlecoils. Don't ask me why, the stocks just sound good on this one!

98 MIM Strat with Classic Stack neck, Custom Staggered and Classic Stack bridge. That's what I'm intending to configure after removing the JB-Jr.

Both strats are maple neck /w alder bodies.

actually, my best sounding strat (lt;lt;lt; avatar) has APSIIs with an SSL-3 bridge ... sounds smooth-vintage with a hot bridge

another option on this is to use an SSL-2 in the mid

Hamer Daytona with a set of Classic Stacks, but I'm wanting to hear the new stacks. Maybe they get replaced, maybe they don't. We'll see.

I play... Hell, what is my style? I would have to say Fusion. From a standpoint of tone, I would have to say that it's closer to a Rock tone than anything else.

1) A heavily modified Highway One with a Kinnman Woodstock set. He makes wonderful, noiseless pickups with fantastic tone. Check the website out; very informative!
2) Custom built neck-through Strat with two Antiquities and a Bill Lawrence (another great sounding alternative).

I play a lot of different styles, but the strats are primarily used in blues or funk situations.

Glad to see this thread as I've been wanting to turn my Strat quot;back into a Strat.quot; I've currentley got a Blues Saraceno in the bridge and a Jazz in the neck. It sounds good, but after listening to the Cream DVD I find I'd like to re-explore the possibilities of a Strat. I'm not out to copy a tone but I know what I'd like to hear. I like the Strat vibe but I don't like how thin some of the lower output pickups are. I'd like something with some strength to it, especially on the higher strings but without being boomey on the bottom, and with the least amount of hum. Suggestions?

My '86 MIJ Strat has a Metal Livewire humbucker in the bridge and 2 Ibanez SB10's (like HotRails)

my 2005 MIC Strat is in pieces right now, but the Custom 5 arrived today and it will get a Tele Neck pup in the neck position

Mooretone custom made pickups. Best strat pickups I've heard save the one actual 1962 I played a few times. FYI I've never felt the need to try Duncan pickups in a strat yet because these Mooretones just hit the spot for me. I've got Duncans in all my humbucker guitars though and boy, they also hit the spot for me.

There's some on ebay now, just do a search for mooretone. The owner will talk to you personally for hours about guitars and what you want your guitar and pickups to sound like. I told him, and he did it. That was great. Very nice guy too.

Twangbanger and 2 SSL-1's.

My 93 USA Standard Strat has a Bareknuckle Crawler Humbucker in the bridge and 2 Bareknuckle Irish Tour single coils in the middle and neck.

I also have a 1970s Japanese Strat that did have a JB Jr, Quarter Pound and a Lil 59 in it, but I'm currently rebuilding it with a new tremolo unit and am putting Duncan Antiquity I's in it with a TBX Tone control and a EMG Afterburner Booster for the forseeable future

I play Classic Rock, UK 1970s Glam Rock and general 'middle of the road' Rock stuff.

Right now I have a Texas Special in the Neck and middle with a Pearly Gates plus in the bridge, About to replace the whole pick guard with a pair of Bill Lawrence L280S in the Neck and Middle and a L298SL in the Bridge.

If that dont work its either going to be the Texas hots with custom bridge or the new classic Stack Plus!

In my HW-1 a pair of old 80's APS-1's...never ever getting rid of those!
And an APS-2 with a steelbar.
No tone on the middle pickup right now, will there eventually, tone on bridge and neck.

Hwy1 has Antiquities
MIA hardtail has fat 50's
MIA trem has a hybrid and a volume pot until I figure out what I want in it. Leaning toward Suhrs right now but not sold on them yet.

#1 Silver Series Squire Custom - Little 59 bridge/Classic Stack mid/Hot Stack neck

#2 Fender Partsocaster - PG/C Hybrid hum's bridge and neck

#3 VH1 replica Frankenstrat - 59 bridge

'96 MIM Stratocaster (Tacocaster)
Bridge: Nashville 5-2 Bridge
Middle: Alnico II Pro RW/RP
Neck: Nashville 5-2
