I've had it. I was just changing strings on my Les Paul. 3 at time so as not to have to worry about the tailpiece falling off. So I'm using the kink the string 90 degrees and them back under an up method of locking the string within it's own windings. Holding the end with my teeth guiding the string to wrap properly with one hand and winding the peg with the other.

*amp;$(amp; B string end (I hann't cut it off yet...I don't do that until after I strech the strings in case they slip) pokes me right in the amp;$*amp;(amp; eye. Damn that hurts. I don't care if the locking Klusons cost $90 a set....I'll have 2 of them by the weekend.

*amp;()amp;*(#$amp;*(#$#$@*!@!(@#*(_.

The damn thing nearly went all the way though my eye and into my frontal cortex. I'm not losing a cornea to prove that I can wrap a string the old fashioned way. Screw this.

Well,at least you're not bitter about it.I'm sorry Jeff but I have to giggle, that has happened to me so many times. So it's nice to see that I'm not the only person that happens to.

I'm starting to feel sorry for Jolly ...he musta put up with a lot of whining

hahhahahahhahaha

Ouch

Same happened to me before I switched all my guitars to schallers or sperzels. only now that I'm restoring guitars i gotta watch out for the loose string ends again.

F***

just use a pair of mini pliers. Make a knot the old fashioned way - works for me.

Anyone got a bass guitar string smacked over their face?

I once borrowed a bass from some idiot around here, and what i didn't notice was that the E string were REALLY badly strung up. So, i started tuning the bass, and i had to lay my chin into the body to hear the sound of it. All of a sudden, the E string slips off the tuning post and whacks me straigth over my nose, lol!

I'm sure you could've called me quot;Erlend the red nosed norsemanquot; for a while after that

Cheers!
-Erlend

...and yet another reason I've never trusted the quot;string-tyingquot; method.

Every grizzled geezer whose opinion I respect does exactly this when they set up an instrument. And every time I get home I have to immediately cut the strings off and re-string it.

And every time I bring the guitar in they're amazed at how well it stays in tune even though I don't do the string-tying thing.

lt;-- Has had locking tuners from day one.Took you long enough, slowpoke.

Funny that you should post this now. You didn't, by any chance, get your new Everly strings from MF did you? I did. Just put the B-52 Rockers on my Strat. However, I didn't poke myself in the eye.

i'm with you Jeff!!! i never experienced a string change with locking tuners until i had my Moore...i'm gonna have sperzels on every guitar i ever get from now on...it's just too easy, and frankly i'm lazy...LOL!!!

So how do you do it? Just pull it through all the way and turn?
