Here is a method I have used for blocking a Floyd Rose (preventing it from going sharp) that works extremely well. You do have to file and shave the wood piece until it fits perfectly. You also need to use a couple really small wood screws to hold the block in place if you plan to still depress the bar and make the strings go flat....
The cool thing about this method is you can't tell be looking at the front if the guitar that the trem is blocked.
Here is the more tradional way-- inserting a wood block in the recessed area, thus preventing the bridge from being pulled sharp.
I've always had good luck just sticking an old 9 Volt battery behind the block.
Is blocking a floyd politically correct these days?
Is that an old skool Charvel?
Behind the block and the plate?
I took the plate off now (I change tuning a lot) and if I could find a wood block to do it, I would. I also lack precision rulers to know what size wood I'd need
Humm...... this could be vault worthy!
They have this too.
That's more what I had in mind for mine.
Do you have to make this up yourself or do they sell kits like that? Any shops in Europe that'd have that...?

That is an old mutt made from Charvel/Warmoth and other parts... the wonderful Charvel neck is long since warped. That body is basswood and I seriously thought I was going to rip the Floyd right off her one day. So, I blocked it to put less strain it. I actually think the old skool rig is a non-recessed Floyd-clad Charvel! I order my new stuff non-recessed and am very pleased. It is mainly a factor of getting old and lazy... the non-recessed tuning and stuff is just so easy! If I need to pull sharp I have two other guitars I can use.
axcessories.com sells those things for $10 USD but you could make one up yourself pretty easily probably. I might just buy one though. lol
Vault it!
I dont really understand the whole quot;blocking the floydquot; thing....I mean I know what it is and does, I just dont know why everyone wants to do it. I think pulling up is as fun as dropping down.....if your set up right with good **** it will keep tune. And dont forget to stretch your strings out....
I glue in the wood for the trem block to rest on.... I only like my trems to go down and not pull up at all.... it is mostly because i do not have the time to tune and tune and tune and tune when changing strings on floating guitars....

And dont forget to stretch your strings out....a blocked floyd is a good thing if you also do alot of rhythm work and palm muting and you sometimes rest your hand on the bridge b/c if you do that with a floyd it goes sharp. thus why i only have one floyd guitar lol...but i do want another eventually, not that i have a real need for it.

no. it's not screwed into the floyd. it's just a stop bar. much like the block of wood
It prevents if from going sharp.

One axe Floyd wanting to detune = block the Floyd
Weren't floyds designed to be a non-floating bridge???
the other benny to having it blocked is ~gt; if you break a string live ... you're not S~O~L .
