Hey guys, some of you may have seen my thread about deciding to build a warmoth baritione in the pickup lounge, but I'm also looking to explore all alternatives before I jump into the afterparts trap. I know that ESP, Schecter, and Gibson/Epiphone make some nice baritones but I'm looking for all avenues, perhaps I can get some good suggestions for others.
It's basically a backup for my ltd H-207 7 stringer, but it may very well become a #1 depending on the tonal quality. I'm not looking for anything too expensive seeing as how I've got car insurance and college savings coming up. I play metal, and the gear listed in my sig should give ya'll a good idea of what I'm goin for.
Consider Agile (Rondo music) as well. Agiles are great bang for the buck. I have their neck thru maple baritone that isn't currently offered but they have a bolt on version. Great guitar for cheap.....
I assume you want to tune it to B?
Yes indeed mr. invented fire, although I would like to get something that wouldn't take a tuning other than that as alien.
how much money do you want to spend?
Well I'm in canada, so I'd like to keep it around $1000 CAN, although I'm not too stingy higher or lower.
here are a couple that I think might be what you are looking for...

The Agile guitars I have played have been great for the money, the LDT stuff is hit or miss IMO, the Schecter stuff always impresses me, and I have never had much use for Ibanez stuff, but a lot of guys do...
Good luck, I hope this helpes a little!
Thanks man, I'm a little weary of the Schecter because the scale length is only 26.5quot; I want a 27quot; at the very least. Does anyone know a good way to get something around the 28quot; mark other than Warmoth, the Mike Muschok Ibanez signature, or the new Steinberger?

My Agile is a 28quot;.......my Schecter C-1EX sit's in it's case most of the time......
I would also add that I am a big fan of the LTD stuff. I have played the VB-400 and that is a very big sounding evil SG axe. I also owned the cheaper MHB-200 which had a great neck but the agathis body turned me off so I dumped it. I would love to try it's maple body upgrade the MHB-400. Both the VB and MHB have 27quot; FWIW.....
I stand corrected........it is back and available:
from : localhost/is the one I have. I have EMG's in it.......the stock actives are pretty good too.
sorry if this is slightly off-topic...how do those baritones sound ?
Not to perpetually blab about this but I've owned alot of 7 strings:
Ibanez 7620, LTD H-207, LTD H-307, LTD M-307, Schecter A-7 Elite, Schecter A-7
I used 7's for years before switching to baritones. What I like about the Agile is it's more solid/beefier neck. Being used to 7's I always noticed the puny feeling that alot of 6 string necks have. The Agile has a more solid feeling than most IMHO......that is all

Which baritones?
Here's an older one that is flat-out awesome... Yamaha RGX Drop 6. You can probably get one for next to nothing.

ive never played one, but those VB-400's look badass! i love satin finishes....might be a bit more expensive than your looking for, but you gotta remember youre paying for the EMGs too
or you could go for the cheaper version

I dunno........you're asking very generic questions. Tune a regular guitar down with heavier strings to B and you will know your answer.....

The VB-200 is agathis.....can't say I would advise that one....
no it isnt. the MHB-200 baritone is agathis, but the ESP site says the VB-200 is mahogany
