Yo.
A while back I posted some questions I had about why my delay pedal wouldn't produce clean repeats in the effects loop. A few guys on here told me its because I was putting an effects pedal into a parallel loop that was designed for rack gear, and that there it was the signal level differences that was causing the mushy/muffled/distorted repeats. I've tried running different pedal effect level/amp mix level settings to no avail, the sound alweays gets mushed up.
I've noticed that some amps have a quot;normalizedquot; effects loop that will accept both rack gear and footpedals, and some have a -10/ 4 switch that will allow you to switch between signal levels that are better for pedals and rack gear, respectively.
My question is this: Is there a small device I can buy that will adjust the signal coming out of my amp into the -10 range so that I can use pedals in the loop? I don't care if it's rackmountable or not.
Thanks for any advice.
By the way is the delay stereo?
You could get funny phase troubles too.
Why not get the amps loop modded?

No the delay is NOT stereo... although I did just snag a DD6 in the Trading post. I always run mono.
CAN I get the loop modded? It's a MESA/Boogie... I wonder if the Hollywood store can tell me anything?
What delay is it??
Some mono ones have the phase turned 180 degrees, and that can cause some trouble with some loops.
Yes everything can be modded

I just got that DD6 for something more modern, but my old standby is a Dan-Echo delay... the big lavender colored one. It's got a nice vintagey, analog vibe to it that I really like.

Is your loop parallel then or series? Would be cool to have both...
I own one of the DanEcho pedals and it's great....Warm and vintage sounding.....I only use it with my BF Fender stuff and I hold onto it..

It's a parallel loop.
any device suggestions?
If it was me, I think I'd just put the pedal in front of the amp rather then mess with the effects loop. Being a pedal, my guess is that's what it was designed for, anyway. The only luck I've ever had with a delay in the effects loop was with a Roland Space Echo, where you could adjust the input and output levels.
A small linemixer might help you

Good news!
1) As for the delay only, I just purchased a BOSS DD20 GigaDelay after finding out that it can be adjusted for 4/-10 levels. I tried it today and sure enough when I set it for 4 the echos were as clear as glass.
2) I'm pretty sure the levels on my GT5 can be reprogrammed to accpet that level of signal.
Thanks for all your guy's help!
