Gibson Pat Martino Custom. This is a remarkable Gibson Custom,Art amp; Historic signature model. It is in near flawless condition with the exception of some light pick marks on the bound faux tortoise shell pickguard and a very mild scratch on the gold treble pickup cover. Wow, where do I start? Construction is a semi hollow design with the back carved from a solid piece of mahagony and a carved two-piece AAAAA highly figured bookmatched and multi-ply bound maple top that's about 1/2quot; thick. The finish is what Gibson calls caramel. The neck is mahogany and is only a bit more substantial than Gibson's slim taper neck. It's topped of with a bound, silky smooth compound radius ebony fretboard that makes for effortless playing up and down the entire neck. There are no position markers on the board but there are on the side binding. The headstock is somewhat unique to Gibson as it's a straight pull design. This also helps make for effortless playing. Gibson uses Schaller tuning machines on this model. The hardware is gold and not the least bit tarnished. Now for the upgrades. It originally came with Gibson's 57 Classic pickups. While these sound fine in other guitars they didn't work for me in this guitar. I've replaced them with Lindy Fralin Humbuckers and they really bring out the best in this guitar. I did not keep the 57 Classics. Trust your ears, you won't be disappointed. I've also installed a Schaller roller bridge that's so much more adjustable than the original Tune-o-matic. That I did keep and will ship it along with the guitar to the winning bidder. Finally, I locked down the tailpeice with a set of Tone-Pros locking tailpiece studs. I have it strung with Pyramid silver roundwounds, set size 10-48. Comes with the original black leatherette hardshell case, Custom,Art amp; Historic certificate and above all, no disappointments. Pictures to follow!
