Brass String Retainer i love these guitars...there's a shop in the town where i work that has one in cherry sunburst...and even it is gorgeous, but i don't care for that color...now the Chlorine color....WOWOOWOWOW!!! that's AWESOME!! however, they are super expensive!!! has anyone played one?! i'm afraid to play the one at the local shop...it has a $4000.00 buck tag on it...that's insane!!!
Those look awesome.
I've never played one, but judging from the quality of what Jackson/Charvel normally puts out, I'm sure they're great. They're much prettier and probably have better wood than the OLPs, but I'm not sure they're $3800 better. If they were about $1000 I'd say go for it, but $4000 seems steep. Unless you're wanting a collectors guitar. They're MIA, right?
Man that blue is beautiful...
the amber colored one is amazing
Thay are beautiful, but the price is ridicolous!
yeah...they're MIA...but the prices are STEEP!!! $2999.99 is the cheapest i've seen them!? from what i understand...they are a very limited run model...it would be nice to have though...i love the Chlorine color! That is a great looking guitar. But that price is outrageous considering you can get this MIA DLX for a little over a grand from their parent company:
It may not have the fancy 25th anniversary seal on the headstock, but this particular 2004 model does have a 50th anniversary sculpted neck plate.
IMHO it'll even be more awesome with a fixed brige.
I hate to say it, but you could build one just like it at warmoth for less than a quarter of the price and still be just as good quality. Especially with electronics that simple. Since the neck specs are there too you could have them make you a clone of the neck also.
well, you ARE buying a limited edition custom shop guitar. and 4k is suggested retail price AFAIK so the street going rate is about 10-30% cheaper .. but zerb will know more about that.
yeah...i'm definitely interested in what zerb thinks about them!?
my best kisekae reproduction...?!
[IMG][/IMG]
the kisekae thing looks ugly
yeah...it definitely doesn't do that model justice!
those guitars have some of the most amazing necks i have ever felt on a strat like guitar. i played a cherry burst one along with one of the evh charvels which is fairly similar and they both had the best feeling necks on a strat ever! the thing i find odd is that they decided to go with chrome saddles on a gold bridge...it looks kinda cool though. if they came in hardtails with chrome hardware i'd consider buying one...or even just chrome hardware, i can't get past the look of gold hardware on a quot;stratquot; i just looks odd to me. killer guitars though but a bit too pricey for what they are in all honesty.

For those of you who remember him, Dystrust picked one up used at Dave's Guitar Shop in La Crosse, WI for i wanna say $800 It's the cherry burst one #59 if i remember correctly. All the hardware is NOS from the early days of charvel jackson, btw. As far as the price goes, it's a bit spendy. However, $800 for a $4000 guitar... i think that's a pretty good deal.
$800 bucks...........are you sure it's the same one?!
One of my first 'good guitars' was an original San Dimas strathead in black. I had no idea it would become a collectible someday. Mine was black with a maple neck, and I had it routed for a neck single and a Floyd. It was my first guitar to have Duncans....zebra JB and Hotrails. I sold it for $450 Doh!!!!
I wouldn't mind making one from parts. So cheap and easy, it's almost stupid to buy an expensive one from Charvel. Just buy some Warmoth, US Custom, or Fender parts and it'd take you half a day to put it together and get it playing good.
Well, 2 year old news travels fast
I´ve played a few, wonderful guitars.
As far as the price: Original Charvel stratheads in good condition easily fetch upside of 5k on eBay... And even a GMW will cost you almost 2k IIRC, and they can also no longer make Stratheads.....
You´re getting a custom shop Charvel with rare specs, a very close reproduction of the quot;Holy Grailquot; Superstrats that started this whole thing.
For those that argue Warmoth:
1. Not everybody wants to build it themself
2. Some people DO care what´s on the headstock, and what shape it has
3. I´ve never seen a Warmoth with a lifetime guarantee, nor a collectible one. A Warmoth loses 50% value as soon as the parts leave the box. These on the other hand are staying very stable as far as price goes.
And having built A few Warmoths : There´s still a difference in quality. Warmoth is IMO the quot;poor man´s custom shopquot;, Jackson is IMO honestly a notch or two above. And comparing a custom Charvel to a run of the mill Fender is just plain insulting....That´s like comparing a Ferrari to a Fiat, just because you can get both in red and Fiat owns Ferrari. J/C is owned by Fender, but thankfully still fully independent
Finding one has become hard, those particular two are one offs, Chlorine and Solar weren´t part of the original plan...Both belong to JCF members, and perchance both are this month´s quot;Guitar of the Monthquot;
But 4k is still way overpriced, 2.5-3 is more realistic, 800 I can´t really believe unless it was either stolen, a fake, or the dealer shafted himself pretty bad.....

And when the quot;run of the millquot; guitar offers features and refinements not offered of the quot;premiumquot; then you can absolutely compare. Charvel is putting a price on people's memories with this. And if this speaks to you, it may be worth it. But if we're talking guitars, and not memories, I think we can compare.
And as for putting a price on memories, everyone tells me that an all original '72 white Strat with maple neck is not worth the $10,000 they can go for. And they're probably correct. But if I had that kind of disposable cash, my memories of this guitar would totally compel me to purchase one. Logic be damned.
