I got an A5 magnet that comes from an old JB.

When I briefly had another A5 magnet, I made a test on my metal file cabinet. Putting both A5 on the cabinet, I tried to remove them. The old A5 came of easily, while the new one just stuck there. I had to slid it to a side to remove it.

Is the older magnet good for the garbage? What should I expect form a wak magnet? Is it good or bad?

Well, that would mean that I consider the weakening as a good thing. All pickup who claims having an aged magnet advertise this as a quot;goodquot; weakening.

My question is rather: can a magnet be weakened to the point of being unsusable, for whatever reason?

Get it to a Gauss meter somehow? US mail and a winder friend?
