Just picked up a new Fender USA Hwy 1 tele in 3-tone burst for $371 tax!! (list $899, sticker $629). I also picked up a new quot;Crate Palomino V16quot; class A 15-watt tube amp (these things sound great!!). They couldn't budge on that one at $399 tax because it's a new release, hot item, and they only had one on the floor. In fact, the guy trying it before me had to put $200 down to order the 30 watt version. So to make up for that, they dropped the tele down to the price of a MIM standard.
damn....that's a hell of a deal
Nice score TC. All you have to do is ask....they'll do silly things sometimes, especially if you're ready to drop the cash now. Is that amp the Acoustic amp? I was looking at those today, and the little 18w or whatever was $149. Almost picked up one of those also.
Post up a pic.
They're not acoustic amps, they're class A vintage style amps, but they actually have more vintagy gains than cleans. I wanted the litle V8 5 watter, but they didn't ahve any in and are a hot item. I have heard from several sources that they usually don't last long. Also, I wanted the 12 inch speaker on the 15 watt rather than the 10 incher on the 5 watt, sounds a little warmer.
i couldnt talk the bastards down to $450 for a honey blonde H1.... bastards
TC did you ever get the PRS D. Navarro?.. i was just wondering what you though of it
damn dude I wish I could get a price like that on a hwy 1.
regarding the amps: told you so!!! I have the 50 watt EL34 version of that amp with a celestion vintage 30. It absolutely rips dude.

TC did you ever get the PRS D. Navarro?.. i was just wondering what you though of itThat's because you weren't buying an amp at their quot;fullquot; price. It's a numbers game. They made some money on the amp, they gave him a great quot;dealquot; on the guitar. All in all, if they'd given up some on the amp like they wanted to, they'd not have gone down so much for the guitar. New gear like that amp, some computer program or a hard butt manager has them locked in so they can't go too low on a hot item. Now the Hwy 1, no lock, no manager type thing.
All in all, he got a great deal on both when you add them up.

Yep, now if I return the amp for a full refund, I really scored !!! LOLOriginally Posted by XeromusI have the 50 watt EL34 version of that amp with a celestion vintage 30.
These have V30's in them?Originally Posted by Ez74TC did you ever get the PRS D. Navarro
I have not received the Navarro yet, they are scheduled to ship this month. Some guys at the PRS forums said they toured the factory a couple weeks ago and saw some in the paint booth, so it should be soon.

no the V-series which are very similiar to that amp you bought, except they are AB class EL34 amps. They come with celestion 70/80's now but I put a vintage 30 in mine. I could never sell this amp.
pic added
I guess I forgot to mention, the tele was bought intended as an organ donor for this hand made 2-piece alder body based on a real 69 tele as the template, with a custom paint job Gonna get a hot rails bridge and vintage rails neck

does that mean you want to sell the highway1 body?

Yep, the body, pickguard, strap locks, and pickups/pots will be going out. I'm keeping the neck/plate/screws, bridge, control cover, knobs, and switch.
Very nice TC.
I have the Crate V1512 tube amp.
Great little practice amp.
loud enough for jammin with friends as well.
Crate's putting out some awsome stuff these days.
At very affordable prices as well.
Kent
so you going to be getting rid of the body and the neck? if so, I may be interested! Also, I have a Crate VC5212B which is modeled after the Vox AC30 top boost, only in a 50 watt version. Great amp! (if you can tame the treble (I usually have it on about 2)).....this amp may be donating to my cause though, I'm about to start building point to point wired tube amps. Gonna build one for a prototype, and then when I'm happy with the tone, start building a couple and sponsor local festivals by loaning them amps to use that way I can get my name out as an amp maker, then I'll make them on consignment
you're a g.a.s. machine TC!!!
