I'm having trouble deciding what pickup I want for User Group Day. I'm getting a bridge position humbucker for a Charvel. I like Van Halen and Dokken's guitar sound, so I'm thinking of a mix of a Screamin Demon and an EVH. Here's what I'm planning:
Black uncovered trembucker spaced EVH with barely mismatched coils, hex polepieces on slug side, an aged Alnico 2 magnet, aged Antiquity bobbins, with single conductor braided shield cable.
Anyone have any advice/opinions?
Sounds like a smoking pup! I'm in the same boat as you, confused as all get out.
Yeah man, that sounds like an awesome pickup!
I'm staying simple. I already use the C-5 in a bunch of my guitars, but I think it could use just a tiny bit more mids. I just want a nickel C-5 that's overwound to the point where it sits right in between a C-5 and JB, like 15.4
I haven't tried very many Duncans, so I'm mostly choosing based on stuff I've read. Once I get my amp and rack setup completed and my old amps sold, I'll experiment around more with my guitar and pickups.
So any advice would be greatly appreciated!
I have no clue what to make either. That C-5/JB deal sounds pretty good though. I might steal your idea.
One last bump, then I'll let it rest. I'm pretty set on this design.
