I was reading about this pickup and it seems that a good combo with it would be with vintage rails at the middle and hot rail at bridge.Does this combo sound good and which pickup should i buy for the neck??
Sorry if this sounds stupid.
Welcome to the forum. Doesn't sound stupid at all.
In fact, I would think that a Cool Rails would an almost perfect match, in the neck, for that set up.
Travis should be along shortly.
Welcome to the forum, Alex!
I agree with Artie on this one. I have a cool rails in the neck of my Peavey and it compliments the hot rails (in the middle on mine) very well. I'd really like to hear your combo in action. Sounds like it would be great.
Of course, there's a world of options out there, so someone may have an idea you like better. But that's why we're here. We all have our ideas about how quot;goodquot; sounds, but generally, the guys on here won't steer you wrong.
Dang it, there I go rambling again.
I have a guitar with a JB in the neck, and 2 x Hot Rails in the middle/neck positions, and it sounds great!! I'm not a fan of the Cool Rails, personally.
Tonally, I think the VR and HR are a great match. Output wise, the HR drowns the VR.
The VR is a great neck pickup as well. However, my favorite rails combo is the CR in the neck and the VR middle. It might be worth trying a VR neck and CR middle, then wiring the guitar so the HR bridge and VR neck can be active at the same time.
You know, if you're comfortable with soldering, you could get all three and move them around, see which ones you like the best and in which positions. If there's one you just hate, swap it for one of the others. Just a suggestion.
