I really wanted to get the Cool Rails but somebody offered me his old JB jr. for ~ $35 (coverted from Phil. currency) so I grabbed that one instead. I couldn't pass that one up.

I wouldn't get to install it yet but the pickup is already with me... so I guess my question is: Will I be disappointed?

Should I have gotten a CR at the full price?

The stock pups on my Am. Std. Strat specifically the bridge pup is tooo thin and tooo bright for me. My tone knob is at midpoint. Hopefully the JB Jr. will make my sound thicker and tame the brightness to some degree. This wasn't planned at all. I was still saving some for a Custom and A2P for my Epi LP. But I know I want a CR for my strat.

I hear people say that the JB Jr is too thin, but when you play with a big amp on quite loud, it makes a real difference. Depending on what music you play, the JB Jr may be just fine. I mean, things like the Hot Rails may be TOO hot. If you ask me, Cool Rails are best in the neck postion. They make real sweet tones there.

Still, I have never played around with a JB Jr in the bridge properly, you're best waiting for someone with a bit more experience than I do.

Damn.

It should be thicker than my stock SC A5(?) pup right?

I play quot;old schoolquot; metal btw like Megadeth and Metallica, but I won't use that strat for those. I have my RG (steve's special and air norton) and Epi LPr that.

Oh hell yeah. I'm sorry, what I meant to say is that it may sound thin next to a full sized JB or a Hot Rails bridge or something. They are still really good pups in my opinion.

Compared to the stock pup,you will hear a huge difference,it will have a much fuller sound and it will rock.I think you'll like the change.

awesome! my only aim with that strat is for it to sound as heavy as yngwie on facig the animal

i don't like it's tone curve though. it doesn't seem to have much bass. but the soundfiles sound good. though the cool rails sound better. the hot rails definitely have more punch and thicker but doesn't clean up as well as the cool rails.
