Alright, I have had problems with my Floyd before... but I'm at may breaking point with the thing. I have been trying to string it for 3 days now. Every time I try to string the B.. it comes flying out of the saddle. It just.. won't.. STAY. I have ruined 3 strings doing this. Is there anything I should do to prevent this? Is it my bridge's fault or mine? I'm sure it's probably something I'm doing wrong.. but god I'm frustrated. I am never EVER buying a guitar with a Floyd again. Looks like I might turn into a Gibson man after all
hey hold on... on your thought there, maybe you`re doing something wrong, have some patience...
you should check on your saddle, maybe the little block that is inside the saddle is no correct on in the position it should be, maybe that seems to be problem...
hello

Looks like I might turn into a Gibson man after all I went through the same exact thing. I bought a ESP/LTD guitar with a floyd (basically a kh-2 copy) and ended up selling it pretty much right after I bought it because the strings kept slipping out of the saddle and restringing it seemed so impossible to do. Ever since that incident I haven't considered any guitars with floyds....
Make sure there's not a tiny piece of broken string stuck down there. Using needlenose pliers or a thin allen wrench, try to pull the little black block out. Make sure there's not rust or particles in there. Put the black block back in, facing the proper direction. When you restring it, make sure the string end is forced all the way to the bottom of the cavity. Then tighten the bolt that pushes the block into the string. There's no reason a string should come undone if you do all of that.
The biggest reason people can't get along with Floyds is because they don't intonate them 100% perfect, and don't make sure the baseplate is flush with the body.
When properly setup, they never go out of tune, and they have enough spring tension to keep other strings from going flat when you bend one note. It's the most perfect trem system ever invented......it's just got to be setup to perfection.

IIRC, the Iron Maiden strat had a FR system.
Not that these kind of things matter anyway.
And then, make your next guitar a Gibson!
i used to like floyds now im turning into a hardtail type-o-gal

of course they do.. just like a vintage trem compared to a hardtail...
i wish people would stop with the 'floyd affects tone blah blah BS' everything on a guitar affects tone.. and maybe people actually like the change along with the fact that nothing else works like a floyd does

whatever man, keep ur jackson, get a strat AND a gibson.
If you really would like a gibson check the new Neil Schon model... You'll love it
Blasphemy!! How much is it?

Yeah, the New Schon is just badass...that in Black w/ an ebony board and I´d be all over it
Zippy: Take the guitar to a competent tech and have him show you how to set it up properly. It may be that the locking block is cracked, or another minimal problem....but something, mostly about the way you write it, tells me that it´s a user error, call it a hunch
You may end up being out 50 bucks incl. strings, but then you´ll know what you´re doing. And then your Floyd should become your best friend, even the JT-580LP (whick I would also recommend swapping for an OFR in the mid term) ) Originally Posted by Kacdo what gearjonser said, and then sell your jackson for a strat

ROOOOFL
You´re correct, but to a good extent they´re JACKSON strats and/ or have FLOYDS, esp. Adrian seems to have a thing for the Ultimate Sin (Couldn´t resist putting a few of Adrian´s King V in there, sorry )
Although I must admit, I can´t recall EVER seeing Janick w/ a Floyd...
