Hey,
I was wondering if any of you guys out there own one of the Marshall AVT Series? If you do please tell me how they are.

i have an avt20 that i am loaning to a friend, i recently got a mesa rectoverb. the avt's are ok, nothing too spectacular, kinda sterile sounding. for the price, you'd be off getting like a peavey classic or a traynor, or an older used mesa or tube marshall.

Like the guys above said, they're not horrible. I've heard guys make them sound decent. One trick is to keep the gain kinda low on them. For cleans, some of them aren't bad, but if you can get something tube, you'd be better off.

i had a avt150h full stack... Boy was I dumb. After the initial shock of oh yea look at what i have i realized it's really doesn't have a good sound to it. Neither distortion channel is very good. The acoustic simulator is horrid, and most of the effects are sub par. Clean channel is clean, but has no feeling. Do yourself a huge favor and find a tubed amp.

I have an AVT50 combo I use for a practice amp. It's ok. It cranks pretty loud and the distortion sounds pretty good and natural considering it's hybrid. It's a decent simple hard rock practice amp, basically. It's not very versatile, though. The clean channel isn't too bad, but lacks headroom and sounds pretty thumpy with bassy/hot pickups.

I own an AVt150 combo alongside various valve amps and i love it, great tones all around and really versatile

I have an older valvestate model, the VS65R... I think its a very good amp, with a nice crunch to it. The clean channel is very good too. Much better than solid state.

If you've got the $$$ go with a tube amp tho. The valvestate's don't have that *sparkle* that a tube amp has...
