Anyone know?

I had a duncan custom shop EVH and it did not have mismatched coils.
It says that is the pickup he was using on Women and Children First and Fair Warning, which isn't the same as the pickup he had on the first two albums, so it would make sense if the EVH isn't, as those are two different pickups.
I'll probably get the EVH as it is, with balanced coils, unless mismatched coils would improve it.

My bud grew up with eddie and he says that eddie had seymour wind ONE coil hotter on a STOCK 1961 GIBSON P.A.F.
I keep changing my mind! Right now I'm thinking of an EVH with a Screamin Demon screw coil.

why not just use a stock demon?
I love the EVH debate. It keeps things alive and interesting. FWIW, I think the best VH tones I've heard are from VHFan using a 59'. It's much more in the hands and amp than in the pup.
Eddie has changed his story so many times over the years, it's hard to know to whom he lied, and to whom he told the truth. The myth is part of the fun however.
Here's what I heard about the original pickup:
I had a friend who's girlfriend's second cousin's uncle's neighbor had a friend who's son was the former drummer in Mammoth before it turned into Van Halen. One of the roadie's sisters brothers 2nd cousins twice removed (once becaue of divorce) said that Eddie actually used a stock Fender single coil secretly on the album, and has just been F***ing with everyone for years, laughing his a$$ off!
Just get a marshall JCM800 and a nice 4x12 cab with (Only for perfectionist) a 59' bridge in yer guitar.
All you need, the rest is in the fingers.

I'm going to User Group Day, so I'm planning my pickup, so might as well get something custom designed.
I don't want to match the Van Halen tone exactly. I play 80s rock like Dokken and Van Halen, and I'm pretty lucky SD has signature pickups from both of them (well, that's not true, I shouldn't associate the EVH with any particular artist ) so I want something like a mix of those sounds.
I have an ADA MP-1, a Behringer multifx (I use it for light compression), and I will have a Peavey Classic 60/60 soon, so I have a pretty versatile amp rig.
