actually the warthog and the Xbucker sound nice
the xbucker actually does sound quite nice, they seem nicely priced also. I've seen those before too i think.
and the idea of wooden bobbins is actually kinda cool IMO.
I've listened to the sound samples of the Condor and Runaway pickups and they actually sound really good
They're cheap too, which always helps
Don't forget about these guys. I'm thinking about ordering one just to see what it's like. He'll custom make it to your specs, with choice of 5 different magnets...for $60 you can't beat it. I doubt they'll be as good as a custom shop duncan, but you never know.

from : localhost/i heard he makes a 14K ceramic that sounds better than the custom?
he better watch out the dimarzio police dont get him with this DC thing though!
I'm interested in the Xbucker I must admit. You can get WOOD covers, and the prices are about half of what other brands ask (though I must admit, if I got an SD in the US it'd cost about as much as those Swineshead here, all US things are MUCH more expensive).
If anyone ever tried one, heck I'm interested now
did you guys see the tone chart of the A.M.P model
talk about tonal balance!

I hope they sound as good as the wooden ones look.

I'm seriously thinking about a set of the wooden covered pickups to go in the Browcaster
I'm thinking a HSS set in Mahogany. What you guys think?
Argh, I've got an urge to try them at that low price.
Ebony looks awesome

from : localhost/Jeff (HighOrder) is making some nice stuff. From what I know about him he is a player who got into making stuff for himself and some friends. I have spoken to him a time or two and have played a couple of his pickups and they are really nice and he will tweak them however you like for no extra charge (I think). I am a lifetime user and always will be but I am thinking about checking out a set from Jeff - a 9.6k AlNiCo 5 quot;Maximusquot; and a 8.3k AlNiCo 3 neck. If I sold off half of the pickups I have laying around here I could easily afford it...I have been trying out a bunch of different pickups and my place currently looks like SD East, lol, plus I am still waiting for some new pickups that haven't gotten here yet. I've got the pickup bug bad, lol
No 7 strings.... no P90s.... and no 7 string P90s! Next!

They only launched the site last October. They do plan to release a P90 model this year.
I am definitely sold on the wooden pups... Especially some of those contrasting like the Maple/Mahogany models....Beautiful!!

I'm a lifetime SD user as well, but I am intrigued by what he does. I like the fact that he will nail the specs you want, and with the magnets you want. I'm itching to try a 9.5-10k bridge pup with an A3 or A4. How can you go wrong for $55 shipping. Could be the best thing ever. If the pup from him doesn't work, I'm going with an S-Deco 11.5 A5 from the custom shop, but it runs $160.
that xbucker is tempting...i have a strat i decided to make my pickup testing guitar and i think i'll add the xbucker to the list...so far i've tried a duncan CC, duncan dimebucker, and i want to try a bareknuckle nailbomb, swineshead xbucker and a dimarzio breed. i'm looking to find a nice fat yet articulate and not muddy sound!

I've just ordered a neck position Condor for my Artist.
6.8K, Alnico II, nickel cover -- it'll sound SWEET I'm sure.

Good choice
Let us know how you get on with it when you get it.
On another note, how are you finding the Mule's that you fitted to 1 of your guitars?

They're killer, but I've only been able to test them with amps found at the local guitar store; I need my amp to be ready at last to give them a more detailed review. The only thing I know is that my GAS to upgrade that guitar has finally ended. Now it's the Artist's turn.
I am really interested in how the AMP model humbucker would sound, with the individual polepiece magnets . . . a singlecoilish humbucker???
