Hey does anyone own a Dean V? or has anyone played one? good? bad?

a friend of mine has one of the '79 series i think it is and loves it.

I've never heard ANYTHING bad about them. They look pretty sweet too.. all mahogany.. set neck.. and not too pricey. And didn't ZZ Top play '79 Deans?

I think they're cool, but that headstock keeps me from buying it.

fingerboard is what keeps me from buying it..i wont play anything but ebony and the last time i checked they just came with rosewood :-\

nope, dun play them and dun have the urge too.just something about the aura of the guitars. if you get what i mean.

Wht about the ML's? good? bad? sound?

Dean makes some of the best guitars for the $$. Outstanding attention to quality and detail in the instruments. I don't know why Dean gets such a bad rap, they are doing the same thing that Hamer is doing, and have been doing it since the 70's. They've had big name endorsers, including Dime recently (RIP), ZZ Top, Heart among others.

I love my Hardtail. Quality is right up there with PRS and other top end builders. Nothing wrong with them at all.

But Jeff....what about the korean ones?

Even the Korean one's are top notch. And if you ever run across one that was made in the Czech Republic, snap it up. The QC is excellent....Dean makes sure that what they put their name on stacks up. I would put them up again'st the quality of any import you want to name.

ok then.....schecter Blackjack series (any of them) or the Dean 79' series either the ML, V, or Z...
