Any of you guys using the Vox ToneLab SE, BOSS GT-8, Digitech GNX4 or other multi-effects pedalboard units?

Each unit has something I like in it, but I'm not sure of which I'd prefer. I'm looking for something that I can use for effects with my amps, but can also use with headphones for practice.

BOSS has that can't be destroyed rep amp; COSM effects are pretty damned good.

Digitech GNX4 has a buttload of features amp; the downloadable lessons thru Guitar 1, but I had a Digitech box once(RP something) amp; returned it because the effects weren't very good amp; those plastic buttons look like after some stomping, they'd shatter.

The Vox goods really solid amp; from what I'm reading on it, it's basically the Valvetronix head in a floorboard, true???

AND I like the metal stomp buttons....seems like they'd last.Anyone familiar with these?????

having tried the ME-50, I wasn't THAT impressed...it wasn't bad, but it wasn't the greatest...got to play through a vox tonelab a little bit, and it was pretty cool...

By general rule, after my Digitech XP-200, I avoid any and all things Digitech...

I'd say choose between the Vox Tonelab and the Pod XT Live....tried both, both work reasonably well on stock settings, and I'm sure with some tweaking could sound GREAT (this is coming from a die-hard individual stomp box guy too!)

hey man i have a pod xtl and i love it
i am not a pro by any stretch, and it is not a perfect match to a pedal etc, i am sure but man i like it a lot, it gives you a ton of different sounds

I was actually reading the online manual for the XT Live amp; on paper, it sure looks like a ton of goodies in 1 package amp; fairly simple!

How are the effects thru your amp?

I'm happy with my amps amp; would just use it for effects, but I like that the POD has my 2 amps in the modelling section...I could make patches with those amps A/Bd amp; use them for practice.....

I don't actually have either one of them, but I have played on them a bit....so I don't know how it sounds on my amp sorry chief

oh wait, you weren't talking to me...dangit

That was really for for the guy above, Aaronl.......chief!

Played a Boss once, and I have a boss stompbox. Pretty dang good, if you ask me. Not that that means they are the best - I'm having Vox stuff shoved down my throat at the mo, lol - but they do take some beating.

I use a Boss ME-50, there are pro's and con's to it. The compressor in it is almost worthless, not enought adjustability. THe program part is cool, but you can't change settings on the fly when in program mode. I just use it for effects as needed, chorus, delay, wah etc. I usually don't use the program part. The different distortions/overdrives are useful.

it is a quot;toyquot; of sorts, i really like to play with it and record with it on the computer etc...

pm me if u want some clips or catch me on AIM...

I own a Boss GT-3 which I use through a keyboard amp (since i dont have a real amp or money for one right now). I play through headphones 90% of the time though and i love what it does through headphones. When you use effects like that through a tube amp it doesnt always work out quite as well. If you do decide to do that it would be good for just effects on their own, like just using delay, or chorus or something like that. I wouldn't suggest using the presets through a tube amp, It just ends up sounding... digital!
