I'm thinking about grabing one of these...does anyone have any feedback. If all you can tell me is that it's not as good as a real drummer please don't post...I play drums and if I didn't live in an apartment I would just track live drums, but I seem to work better at 2am so a drum machine is just gonna have to work for now. BTW...if you have a better idea for me please let me know, I have heard some good things aboput the SR-16 so I thought I'd give it a shot!

Thanks

I have a Alesis SR-16 It's worth every penny IMHO. I got mine when they
1st came out in 1990 .I payed over $300 for it. If you play drums? It has
velosity pads so you can tap beats out on it or you can use the midi
in/ouputs to trigger the samples in the machine.

I rarely use anything EXCEPT this drum machine on my demos. It's very user friendly when it comes to programming, and the drums are controllable on almost every parameter that you can think of. The cymbals I've found a bit lacking, but I've had some considerable luck running them through a separate compressor with a touch of 'verb. It spreads out the wash a little more. I'm like kmcguitars, I've had mine since 1990, and it's been worth every penny.

I've had mine forever. As a former drummer myself I know you will appreciate the importance of where accents go in a rhythm and that slight variations in dynamics are what make a performance feel real to the listener. The SR 16 will let you program those things. It takes a bit of time but the results are well worth it.
