I just ran across this. Auctions like this don't happen often!

THats pretty cool, i wonder why hes selling it though...
Cool. I really wanted to love the SRV I had, but just didn't like the combination of heavy alder and pau ferro. If they made them with regular rosewood, I'd be all over one like a rabbit on an upturned ice cream container...
Very cool, that's going to fetch some serious cash.
Sorry if I'm ignorant, but who is Tommy Shannon?

The bass player in Double Trouble.

must be hurting for cash. sad.
someone is going to get a very cool item... but it really sad he has to sell it
Well I'll be hornswoggled...
wish i had the dough...that thing would look great on me

WWWWHHHHHHAAAAATTTTTTTTT??????????????
I'm not sure if he's hurtin' for cash, but I would think he'd keep that sucker til he was dead...or know someone that could use a special guitar.
I would think he amp; Chris Layton would be in pretty high demand. They are one of the baddest rhythm sections EVER!!!

I'm not totally convinced that's the case.
As much as I respect SRV and Double Trouble as a second-rate celeb auction this one's kind of pushing it. The guitar was never owned by SRV. It was never played by SRV. Pretty much everyone in the band got one more out of being polite and FMIC bringing enough candy for everyone.
To me the association doesn't merit anywhere near as much money as it will bring in. And for a guy who played on a stage with the quot;real dealquot; night after night I'm not convinced there's any emotional attachment there.
If I found a Strat that had been given to me and I had no reason to hang onto it and I thought I could get some money for it I'd unload it on eBay. How's Tommy Shannon so different?
I guess I am just somewhat of a skeptic, but do you guys think that is really Tommy Shannon or a poser sitting in a hut somewhere in Timbuktu with a pic of Tommy playing an SRV Strat? Some of those guys are slick. Just my two cents worth of skepticism.
Maybe Tommy's not that dumb. It's possible that he's got about 6 of those things, plus he's just parting with some old gear he doesn't use anymore. Everyone assumes these guys are millionaires, but it's probably far from the truth. Storyville didn't exactly burn up the charts.

I checked the feedback... nothing fishy about it IMO. Everything looks legit.
I was wonderring what became of this....
