Inspired by the Reverend, I started using a metal pick last night - a US nickel. Definitley gives off a rawer, thicker sound. Luvin' it!

And it'll tear the **** outta your strings, too

I just bought a Tele bridge on eBay, but the guy also sells these:

I've used one of those from time to time too. I need to do some filing to get it just right.

As much as that is neat, that's defacing the currency.

I've tried quarters before but just can't get used to it. I have a few metal picks laying around but don't use 'em. They do tear the crap out of the strings.

I have some metal picks and I also have a couple of Peso Picks...I don't notice any extra string wear...however if you have a wild right hand (like I do) the wear on the face of the guitar can be bad...

Just look at the face of Albini's TB.

Pre-CBS coins sound way better. Avoid the Norlin coins from the 70s...
Not only do coins destroy the strings, but they also make your fingers smell of the metal... which isn't too pleasant.

Well...it's not like that!

I used to date a girl way back in highschool and she bought me 3 Peso Pick for my Birthday once...thay are actually formed into picks but they are made from actual peso's...it was a cool gift but I rarely use them.

I got a couple of those picks... my mom bought some and gave em to me and some of my friends that play guitar when we all graduated high school.

I don't really use em, but they look cool

As far as I know, defacing currency is only a crime if you then try to pass it off as legal tender. Using it as a guitar pick doesn't count.

Just messin' with ya, bro

FYI, Curt Kirkwood from the Meat Puppets uses quarters as an homage to Billy Gibbons.

I'm pretty sure it's a crime regardless.

However.... who cares? I think I'll go draw a mustache on G. Washington right now

As a striaght edge I am completely against the defacing of U.S. Currency, and strongly reccomend that you not do that.

Ha ha, just kiddin'

AFAIK, It's a crime to deface anything that is worth over... 75 cents I want to say. Otherwise all those cheesy little penny-masher machines would be illegal.

I bought a metal pick once. I did not like it. It didn't give enough.
