I'll be getting a new amp soon and i'm trying to find out how many quot;ohmsquot; my cabinet is so I don't damage it or the new amp.
It says quot;DUNCAN... Researchquot; on the front, yet I haven't been able to find anything about it on the website, in the support section, or anywhere else I can ask. It is a 4x12, 400w or 2x200w, angled cab, says Model SD4122VL on the back. Can anybody tell me what level of quot;ohmsquot; it accepts, or a simple way test this, any way to find it out, or an email address to somebody at so I can ask them directly? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
PS I love this cabinet, i'm surprised I don't see more of them around.

Hey zero; Welcome to the forum. There was a thread a long time back about the SD amps. They were made by someone else, if I recall, for SD.

But anyway, you can generally measure the ohms with a simple ohm meter. Usually, the impedance will be a bit higher than the DC resistance. So, a 4 ohm cab will probably measure areound 2.5 - 3.5 ohms, an 8 ohm cab will measure 6.5 - 7.5, etc.

Just put a meter on it, and round up to the nearest standard ohms.
