I've been playing around with the idea of having in-built guitar effects for my Squier, just fr fun. While browsing around the internet, I stumbled across these: from : localhost/ and from : localhost/do you think, could those be put on the some pcboard, with a switch changing the caps and adding/bypassing the extra parts? Could it work inside a guitar? Grounding issues? I thought about wrapping the pcboard into tape or something, insulating it and shielding the entire inside cavity of the geetar with aluminum foil. Any other ideas?
Should I even try? I've never done a pcboard before..
If these could be incorporated into a guitar, it would be great fun to go OTT with feedback and stuff.. And maybe they could be used quot;for realquot; as well..
I'm by no means an electronic guru, but i do know a couple of things...
It's possible to put FX inside the guitar. Insulating the board isn't necessary, but you should prolly use shielded cable for the connections to the output jack. And foiling the cavity is always a good idea.
You should also connect the ground connection from the output jack to the bridge of the guitar for better grounding. Some people recommend putting a cap between the jack's ground connection and the bridge to prevent electric shocks.
Hmm.. thanks. I'll work on the schematics.. I'll have to see if I find the time to actually build something..
Both of those circuits are so simple, you would actually spend more money on the multi-pole switch, to change all the components, than to just build them both.
Build both, and use a simple switch to select either, or both. They should both easily fit into a guitar.
I may do it myself, and let you know how it worked out.
Thanks, Artietoo! I was kinda thinking that myself.. My biggest problem is creating a Circuit board.. I'm a complete idiot in transferring schematics to working boards. And i thought about building the two but I'm not sure how much space they would require..
They should, however be able to work on the same battery.. Now I need someone to count the cap and resistor values for a decent mid-boost for on-board EQ, lol!
