if I'm not mistaken, they have the exact same output level, just a wider pole spacing, right? is the sound any different since the poles are farther apart?

Your e-strings will be louder and balance out better compared to the others with a trembucker.... IF your string spacing at the bridge is 2quot; or over

I'm about to buy a JB for my strat and I want it in white. As far as I know they don't make the trem ones in white. My spacing is exactly 2quot;...what to do, what to do...

AFAIK they make both of them in any color you want.. just holler up blackrose or lew and they'll get it for ya.

and just FYI.. i got a normal SH4 in my charvel fusion and it works like a marvel. lots o' mojo and i aint taking it out .. the high e pole piece dont allign perfectly, but that's of minor concern to me

There is no tone difference at all. It's the same exact pickup. Although string spacing is not the only difference between the SH-4 and the TB-4. The Trembucker is significantly ''longer'' than the standard sized SH-4 which might not fit most standard sized pickup mounting ring. The TB is supplied with a very thin black mounting ring specifically for the ''oversized'' pickup. Even worst, guitars with pickups directly mounted to the body and does not use a pickup mounting ring might not fit the trembucker at all. On why SD designed it this way, I have no clue

You're scaring me. Would it fit an American Strat?

A tremspaced JB fits perfectly into the aluminum pickguard on my Deluxe MIM strat.

Sounds Freakin' Awesome Too!!!

Rock On

I have a trem-spaced Distortion in the bridge of my LP. It just fits, but oddly the pole pieces are in perfect alignment. Go figure.

I have a white trem-spaced JB in my Fender Strat. I also have both trem and non-trem spaced pickups in other guitars with that bridge spacing and there is no difference in sound IMHO. FYI, back in the day there was no such thing as quot;trem-spacedquot;

LP bridge pickups are quot;trem-spacedquot;. The name is misleading of you ask me and often confused with TREMBUCKER which is a different thing altogether. quot;Trem-spacedquot; or quot;F-spacedquot; simply means that the pole pieces are further apart. Gibsons have been this way for a while now (not sure when they started doing this). I have used both on both and have yet to hear a difference caused by the spacing of the pole pieces. My opinion only of course, YMMV.

just curious... why do you have a f-spaced pickup in a hardtail guitar?

I have a trem spaced white JB in a Strat, I have also had double black and black/red in an RG500. The SH and TB versions of the JB sound the same to me.

I can't count how many people I've seen using standard spaced pickups in guitars that *should* have trem-spaced. Never heard a difference. I just stuck an SH-5 in an Ibanez RG350, and the E strings sound fine.

Hmmm, always learning something new. Thanks Frank

I think it's a syndrom of having too many guitars

But seriously, I have trems and non trems, and when I buy a pickup and I don't particularly care for it I try it out in the different axes. Sometimes I just like it there and it stays whether it's a trem or not. I'm starting to think it just doesn't matter as I have a standard spaced demon in a trem guitar and it sounds fine too.

In my MIA Strat, Trembuckers didn't fit right- normal spaced pickups fit perfectly.
