Someone please recommend to me a good wah wah for $150 or less. Im not extremely picky, I just want a good all around wah. Ive used a Vox V487 and a Budda Bud Wah. I liked the v487 but the lack of true bypass bothered me, and the Budda was okay but it had volume problems and wasn't great. Please tell me a good wah with true bypass for a classic wah sound, a la Hendrix, Phish, SRV.
Every once in a while I find an old Thomas Ogran cry baby that works well. Put in a new Carling DPDT switch, amp; it's true bypass. They're usually around a hundred bucks.
The Vox Clyde McCoy would be a good alternative to the Vox 847. I think it has a better vocal quality to it and it is true by pass. I have 3 Wahs The Clyde, 847 and a vintage Crybaby from the 60's. I use the Vintage one at home..... The Clyde is the one I take out. The 847 is in the closet right now, but I am planning on sending it to Stratdeluxer87 for some mods. That will be my main Wah once it has been moddewd by John.
Ibanez Weeping Demon.
No one else seems to want to try the damned things but me for some reason. Sure, they're ugly but they're also true bypass and more customizable than just about any other pedal out there.
$150 or less? OK: buy a used Vox 847 for under $100 and then send it to STRATDELUXER to have true bypass installed and for John to turn it into the WAH WAH of your dreams. He will too! Lew
I use a bad horsie II, nice simple and hassle free to use. The other guitarist in my band uses a weeping demon wah. I think its awesome for the money. If my BH II breaks or if i lose it i may get one, or another BH

Thanks Lew and Dave for the nice compliments about your wahs...
I can still do an awful lot with the Dunlop and the 847 and 848 Vox wahs, old crybabys ETC.,but it'll be without the Fulltone inductor upgrades.I feel the inductor is the icing on the cake after having the right pot and better tweaked components on the wah board..I've been seeing another quot;Haloquot; version of the original 67 Vox Clyde McCoy copy inductor, but I've not tryed it yet? That inductor is $28 to buy.
shameless plug...i have a vintage (late 70s) morley power wah for sale in the classifieds that i will negotiate on if you have any intrest.

thanks for the replies, bump
The Clyde ri (true bypass) isn't bad for the price, actually, I personally think that would be your best choice (in that price range), if you want a vintage type of wah.
I had one and it got somewhat close to the 'White Room' sound.

It's this quot;somewhatquot; closeness that I don't like about most of the current wahs I've played through and it's the sole reason for having to tweak my own wahs..Most of today's wahs and I say most(not all)lack the correct quality of components needed to get a quacky, vocal range with great sweep..A great wah talks vocally and is articulate also..
It's pretty hard to beat a tweaked out Vox 847 wah overall..It's a cool looking wah also.
