As my brother in tone, Jolly, would say... DAY-UM!
Think of this as a cathode-biased JTM45 w/ reverb, FX loop and a master volume. Holy crap. What an amp.
I've come to a decision. If someone wants me to build them a Tweed or a Blackface, I will.
But, for a Celtic Amplifier mainstay in the lineup, the Edana might be the only fixed bias Class AB amp from this point on.
I believe I will begin to concentrate on cathode biased matchless-style amps for my company from here on out. In fact, I just put my own name into the next two slots of my waiting list. That's the only way I can see me getting these new projects/models built.
Just thought I'd gush a bit.
P.S. Lew, you need to add a Clubman to your DC30 and Chieftain.
you keep tempting me man......and i've got plenty of money for it, i just dont know if i can wait .... that amp sounds cool
Don't wait for me. I'm too slow for true GAS-heads!

yea, but the thing is, i really want a Vox AC30, but those new ones seem cheap to me, and i was immediately turned off by that.....i want something thats of good quality, and i think i could do better than those. But if i go with another of the older Voxes, they get REAL pricey. So, theres the Celtic amps sitting right in the middle i know what you make isnt exactly an Ac30, but its got to be in the same realm, and you use good components.
I've been enduring shoulder pain today just to play this sucker! What a sweet tone machine. Reverb is not overwhelming. Similar to my time spent on the Chietain. Great amp.

I've been a fan of Cathode Biased amps for a long time...amps like my tweed Champ, Deluxes, and tweed Super.
As Gerald Weber at Kendrick said, you can crank them up and squeeze the notes out like toothpaste from a tube.
I'm also sold on the Matchless look, tone and Matchless quality...and if I see a used Clubman Reverb at a reasonable price I may grab it. Congrats Scott!
I'll hopefully have one in my lineup as soon as I can get time to build it.

How does this amp compare to the Edana? You're description sounds very nice, but I wonder if the power tube distortion will not be as accessible/sweet given the master volume and reverb etc.
More of a cathode bias versus fixed bias. I think the Edana is louder, more focused, tighter overall, different type of distortion. I guess, hard to say which I like better. It wouldn't take much to just cathode bias the edana, but the transformers are different as well. Clubman definitely gets more preamp distortion, gotta remember it has an EF86 power tube in the preamp as well. Just different beasts.
upon further review, the Clubman is more of an EL34 Vox versus the edana is pure marshall. (does that make any sense?) Both are great amps.
Uh oh.... should I be changing my amp order?
Evan, I think you're cool with what we have going at this point. From all our conversations, you seem to be more a 6L6 Fender type of guy. With the new Duncan SFX03, you're going to have a real winner. If you don't like it, we'll start over.
I think the matchless stuff distorts too early for what you are wanting. Just think of a ballsier version of the Franklin you played. Still gets distorted pretty fast.
In terms of the Edana 45, it is going to distort more quickly that what we are buiding you.
Finally, tremolo and reverb are much more lush on the EvanRude.
I love Matchless amps, and wish they weren't so damn expensive. I've had 2 Chieftains and a DC-30, and they're all really cool amps. Did anyone notice Doyle Bramhall's DC-30 on Ebay. I'm curious to see what it ends at?!

At the end of the day, if you don't like it, I'll keep the chassis and I can sell that ultra high end enclosure on ebay for you.
So cathode bias is a little looser sounding? I'll take tight and focused over loose for now. Maybe something in the cathode biased realm for the next project.
A buddy of mine bought 2 of these Clubman amps years ago when they came out and I remember how beautiful the clean tones were when he'd plug his Taylor acoustic into a T.C Electronics Chorus/Flanger. The amp was great overall....I think it was a 30 watter(Both were)...
I'm thinking about getting a power scaling box from London Amps and giving it a try on the Edana. Should save my ears and the KT-66 tubes as well. $200 and not too technical on the install side. I might need to find a way to get to the scaling knob through the back to adjust it and also a location for the drive control knob on the back plate of the chassis.

I can then mark them and drill them out. There's plenty of room.
