Well, when I built my strat I went all out with the neck, hardware, and electronics but stayed somewhat conservative in comparison with the body. I went with an MIM because I really like the color I stumbled upon (the satin gunmetal blue). I've been browsing Warmoth, a bad idea for a gassy fellow like myself, and noticed several strat bodies I really like.
I was wondering if in reality I'd notice a big difference if I swapped over to a Warmoth body?
i think it would all depend on what type of wood you were planning on going with from warmoth.

if you stick with alder, you shouldn't notice much of a change at all unless for some reason you got a dog of a MIM...but to be honest the MIM alder bodies are just fine in most cases. i've owned a few MIM fenders and never had a complaint with the body, just hardware, electronics and necks lol. also since you have a MIM bridge, most warmoths are drilled for US spacing so you'll need a new bridge unless you order one without the bridge holes drilled.

if your mim is alder and everything else stayed the same I would expect only very subtle differences in sound if any

Yeah I knew that, it was a pain trying to find a bridge with the proper spacing in the first place . That was a big downside to moving away from the MIM body, so if there's not a big leap in quality I don't think I'll bother with it.
You probably wouldn't notice a change in tone. Of course if you start changing hardware and stuff, that's a different story...
I never can keep things simple when I go to warmoth's site. I'm always looking for some crazy or unusual combinations. Even when I get the money saved up to buy one, I'll probably never be able to decide what to get.
See it's stuff like this that gets my mind wandering...
Binding on a Strat is a big no-no in my books, but whatever works for you. I really like the color.
It could possibly look cool with the rest of the guitar, but I wouldn't really want to pay that much for a strat body. That one's going for $400.
