ok lastnight and earlier today everything sounded fine with my tele. well i just tried to play with my other guitar which has a pearly gates bridge in it. and now for some reason when i switch the channel for my overdrive on the amp my volume drop by half or alittle more. everything is still set like it was. so it should be an even volume on both channels. also my volume is on 2 and its breaking up. it wasnt doing that earlier either. the amp is a peavey classic 50 4x10. i even tried my tele through it to make sure it wasnt the guitar with the same results. would my tubes going out do that or is it somehting else? i've never had an amp do this before i expect it to break up but not at when the volume is on 2.
ok i just got a message from the guy i got the amp from and the tubes arent but about 2 months ago so they should be good sitll. unless they just suck or were bad in the first place. so what are my options here?
It's still possible, though less likely, that a tube is going out. If you had access to a tube tester or some more tubes to swap out, it would be simple to check. I've never had that problem (mainly because I don't have a multi-channel amp), but maybe someone else out there has had it before and knows a solution.
i called an amp tech today and he said he has no idea what it is. and he can look at it but it would alot chepaer if i could find out what needs to be done first.
Man, that sucks, bro. Maybe someone can come up with something.
That's where I would start .... TUBES
i'm going to change them this weekend. i tried it out agian today with the tele first and it worked fine then i plugged in my dean with the pearly gates and it did the same thing the cleans are breaking up and when i switch channels there was the volume drop agian so i plugged the tele back in and it work great. i have no idea what it is.
