I am selling one of my axes. I'll have about 1,000 bucks to spend on a new one. I'm trying to come up with a list of guitars I should try out. I play blues and classic rock mainly, but sometimes will play other genres live when needed. So start listing some nice guitars in my price range and why you like them. I could care less about looks btw, tone and playability are what I'm looking for.
i can't remember what it's called but it's a gold hamer with 2 p-90's
i think it costs around $400
and with that, hell, you'd have enough left over to hot rod a standard strat
get a good strat, like a US strat ... not just because so many other people have one, but because they sound great, are versatile, and very comfortable to play
for your price, you can get a US strat, and a set of Duncans if you decide you want to swap the pups
Used US Hamer and the pickups of your choice. Then, with the money left over, take your girl out.
Single coils or humbuckers? The almighty question that u must answer for us to help u thouroghly.
If ur going for humbuckers I love my Carvin CT6 but an SG is great if you want a crunchy tone.
If you want single coils American Deluxe strats are great.
already have a Clapton Strat so I'd probably buy a guitar with humbuckers
If you already have a strat, ... pick a tele. if you want a humbucker, mod it
what would be a good tele that would cover blues and rock tones?
On the humbucker side, this is the sweet spot for an SG- In fact, if they still make them, or you can find a used one, I think it was the SG custom that had 3 mini hums and just wails all over this space-
I thought SG's were more exspensive than 1,000? I've never tried one, but always loved the tone... Especially when Angus is playing one

Gamp;L Invader Invader or Fender '72 Thineline Tele Thineline Tele one of those is do what you want. The Thineline Tele may be just the ticket for you. Have you heard Tab Benoit play one? He'll make you want a one.

Just about any well made Tele can do that. Buy a Tele and replace the pickups to your liking.

Thineline Tele or any HH Tele.

REALLY, hmmm I always loved the way a Seth sounded in my LP. Never heard of one in a tele. How are the necks on those guitars? I've never had a chance to play a Gamp;L, but I heard they are made pretty well.
The Thinline Tele got alot of good reviews online and is definitely in my price range. It will be one of the ones I have to try out soon.
Didnt Albert Collins play one?
I was also thinking about taking a look at the Les Paul Faded Double Cut. Never tried a guitar with P-90s.
you'll like p-90's
but, another option, is a nashville tele with new pickups
i have one with a hot rail in the bridge, and it sounds...actually real real billy gibbons style. If you like a lotta mids i'd go with that, but if you like a more flat EQ i'd go with a lil '59
then for the neck amp; middle, well, no real suggestions there, i kept the stock ones. Tele neck pickups are under rated.
I usually use the strat middle pickup, well, i lowered it flush with the pickguard, set all the magnets flat, and use it to do clean, quiet parts. Then when i wanna kill, i just flip back to the 'rail
Man..... any Tele would suit you as well as a good Strat.
