Hey hey all, recently set up a proper pedal board, but ive got a bit of a wire jungle going on. What do you use to hold all the leads together to the amp? String looks crap.

Awhile back I bought a bag of neon colored zipties. I like having one color to do the whole board. I've gotten pretty good at wiring boards for myself and other local guys.
1. Layout the pedals so they'll be where you want them.
2. Think about the signal flow, and cut your George L's cable or figure out the patch cable situation.
3. Wire up the board, and make sure it works without hum.
4. Attach industrial velcro, or other means of bracing down the pedals.
5. Straighten all the wires, and route them neatly, then put zipties all over the place.

Make sure that nothing comes loose when you turn the board on end or upside down.
Make sure the power cables can't come loose from the the pedals, because it's hard to figure out when onstage.

GJ has it... The only other thing I would add is I elevated my board and ran all the wires under it. It looks much neater this way. This eliminated the need to tie everything together. I ran all the power supplies (using a one spot, and daisy chain) thru holes I drilled right thru the board. I then used the George L cables to tie all the pedals together. Then I bought a couple of the cable wraps at Radio shack and put all the cables in kind of a snake. I labeled everything so when I need to connect or disconnect it just takes a few minutes.

The Cadillac solution is a Pedal Snake. My ghetto solution is cable wrap.
You can kind of see how I bind the cables together in this picture.Actually I think this is the quot;Cadillacquot; solution, but it doesn't come cheap if you buy new. I absolutely love this board, it's an MKS Pedal Pad. If you can find one on the used market, SNATCH IT UP! Highly adjustable, excellent power supply, neat cabling, and extremely well built.
Oh yeah, once my Loooper A/B comes in I'll be ecstatic with my pedal setup .

I use the kind of dbl-sided velcro patches that comes with some cables, like Fender ones. One at each foot. They hold up pretty well.

this is all I need...it's an old SKB -PS25 pedalboard, but the electronics are gone, but that's fine, I'm just using a regular adapter and a daisy chain..had a one spot once, but it died within like 3 weeks, just couldn't keep up with me..but the daisy chain is great....
I usually use these little colored velcro-ties to keep my stuff in a straight line. I should go down to RS and get some of that cable wrap, thought. That looks like good stuff!

I just Velcro'd my pedals to an angled piece of plywood, no fancy cable ties or anything. Now I don't use pedals, but if I still did, I'd probably make it nicer.

ah cool, that helps a bunch guys! cheers for your input. I feel like a right pedal whore now though, my board is like 3 times the size.

One additional suggestion: I would NOT tie the AC adapter wires with the instrument cables. This could cause and electrical hum in your signal.

ah that was another question, how to keep the whole thing quiet.

I usually tie the AC cable in with the signal cables I use and i have no problem with noise. I usually plug my Furman into the wall and run all the power off there... that took care of electrical noise issues from venue to venue. I use a heavy-duty extension cable I bought at a hardware store with a multi-plug end to plug adapters into, and the Planet Waves cables that I use are all shielded pretty well.

I think that's the key points... isolation, grounding, and shielding.

FWIW, you might try contacting Belden or Whirlwind. A guitarist I know got in touch with them and had them whip up a custom snake for his pedalboard and amp. It was pretty extensive too from what I recall. Can't remember how much he paid for it though.
