Anyone else notice this is possibly one of the best models that Gibson ever made, and was discontinued 7-8 years ago?
I will agree in that they are quite cool .
I completely agree and I miss mine. The bridge pup does need to be Duncanized, though.
I'm seriously considering buying one. I played a friend's today and I was like damn this is cool, it fixed EVERYTHING that I don't like about gibsons, and it's a gibson!! I guess it was too modern of a take for them and they decided to can it. I'm sure the duncan custom shop can do something with that bridge pup.

the bridge HB is slanted. can you modify a SD HB to fit? or are there slanted SD HBs available?

I've grown to appreciate the bridge pickup. It takes some tweaking, but it has a good sound for a stock pickup. It kind of reminds me of the mids you get from a P-90. The pickup is designed to mimic a Strat single when split, I think it does a damn fine job of that. It deffinatley has it's own sound.

Gibsons had so may cool models in the early nineties that they just canned... my The Paul II for example along with the ugly but good MIII and all those weird strat copies.

You used to own a John Paul II ??? Those are extremely valuable now that he has passed on.
I guess I'm the only one that doesn't like it.
