Talking about hight output pickups...

I have a 59/Jb combo that I like a lot. But sometimes I don't like the tone imbalance there is between the two pickups. If I set the amp so the JB sounds nice then the 59 sounds too bassy. I set the amp to mach the 59 then the JB it's too trebly. If I had to keep one of the pickups I'd take the 59 so I'll need a replacement for the bridge.

So, would be the C5 the solution to my problems?

This is a common problem of 59n's that also happened to me. I swapped the a5 in the 59n with an a3 magnet, and it solved my problems.

lol ... i was gonna say to keep the JB and go to an AIIP in the neck instead
... but yeah, i like my C5b with a 59n ... what kind of guitar?cheers

That's why I favor alnico 2 neck humbuckers: less bass...though I miss the highs of alnico 5.

The 59N is a great pickup but at rock n roll volumes it's hard for me to get a clean enough tone for clear, shimmey chords out of it. At lower volumes it's no problem.

For rockin out and overdriven tones, the 59N and JB is a nice combo.

To be honest, I have yet to find a neck humbucker that's as satisfying as a great Strat neck pickup.

I like the c5/59n combo. I have done a lot of pickup swapping and this is one of the best matches that I have experienced with the 59n.

You can adjust pickup heights and poles to get better balance.Originally Posted by LewguitarTo be honest, I have yet to find a neck humbucker that's as satisfying as a great Strat neck pickup.

I hear that!

D barlo, T4D and Lew, thank for pointing that an alnico II would solve the problem. I am pretty sure it will but also would reduce the bite I love from the clean tones.

Lew, you are completely right about the strat neck pickup... But I have to say that 59 it's also a great clean pickup. You can't get thoose great cleans from the single coils but they are also very satisfiying.

I didn't think of that!!! I am going to set the srews a bit higher so the tone would be a bit treblier... Thanks!!
