This will pretty much apply to the Ibanez guys out there.

I don't like my Lo-Pro Edge tremolos. They can't hold their tune for crap. I want original floyd roses on these guitars. Can the two be swapped without any required modifications? I'm looking to do this with my two 7 string Ibanez guitars.

You aren't the first person to find this. Customer's are bringing them back by the truckload. Ibanez dropped a bollock by making the bridge block too short. I don't know if the old Floyds will fit because I think part of the reason for reducing the bridge block was so that they could thin the body for things like the S series and recess the bridge plate further into the body.

Nice Puss

The difference between their short and long bridge blocks isn't all that big of a deal to me; I leave the tremolo back plates off of all of my guitars, anyway. Now if they poke me in my neighborhood, we have another problem altogether.

I did, no problem, but you must order the shorter block from Floyd Rose so that it fits correctly

I had an RG350 that an OFR dropped right into.

I know that you wouldn't be able to directly swap the Lo-Pro Edge with an OFR, but anything is possible with a little work. Are you sure it's a Lo-Pro Edge, not something else like an Edge II/III or TRS? If an original Edge/Lo-Pro doesn't stay in tune, then there must be something wrong with either the setup or the guitar, because Edges/Lo-Pros are as good as the OFR, if not better (depending on who you ask).Originally Posted by JB_From_HellI had an RG350 that an OFR dropped right into.

That's because the RG350 has a TRS trem, not an Edge.

Swapping Edge -7s for OFR 7s requires you to swap the bridge studs... the mounting distance is the same, but the studs are different and not really compatible..... The 6 string OFR will fit the Edge and Lo-Pro Edge routes with room to breathe, but I can´t say on the 7...

You´ll definitely need the 32mm block length on the OFR, that´s for sure...

I´d leave the Locking nut, though, no real need to swap that out

You're missing the point; it's not about bridge block poking out the back, but in reducing the length the have reduced the efficiency of the springs; the strings now have approximately a 30% increased mechanical advantage over the springs which puts the springs under increased strain and reduces the efficiency of the whole reciprocating system. That's why the thing doesn't hold it's tuning.
