can someone recommend a p-90 pup for my lp jr?

welcome to the forum!!

basically you need two things. a vintage type p90 and a non-master volume tube amp cranked up loud. whats the rest of your rig look like?

Any good vintage style P-90 would get the job done...Start with the Duncan Vintage, put it in a LP Jr, plug it into a Sunn and crank it!

I put the Antiquity Dog Ear in my Les Paul Jr. and I just love it. Definitely has the Leslie West/Mountain vibe. Just awsome tone!!!

What a great sound to go after.

One of the sounds that many pro's quote they have tried to copy.

You could not go wrong with a Duncan Antiquity P-90...maybe one about 5% stronger than a stock 50's Gibson P-90 would be especially nice. I remember Leslie saying he used a German made amp called a quot;Strampquot; for those early Mountain recordings. I don't think he gigged with them though. Lew

Mississippi Queen (IMHO) has one of the WORLquot;DS best tones. I saw Leslie on VH1 doing Mississippi Queen but this must have been late 80's or 90's. Crap Tone. He slogs through the song and fahrts around, and it just depressed me. You couldn't hardly recognize the tune. Anyone else see this?

for my head and cab i'am using a laney gh100ti/with gs 412ls speakers....thanks for all the advice

That amp is the stink. You can get some very heavy tones from it. Very thick, very dark.

You may want to play with speakers also. What are in there for speakers now?

You may want to pop the cab open and find out what they are for speakers.

How do you like the TI?

I am jealous.

i would agree with that, i also love robin trowers bridge of sighs.......

I just saw Mountain open up for Deep Purple recently. It was great. His sound was LOUD! I would think that its more in the amp but an LP JR. Would be a good place to start if you dont have the money.
