Well, I got this peavey classic 50 today, I ran it back here to hook it up, pluged it in, hit the powerswitch and the tubes light up and the fan comes on, but nothing else does. Not even the light that says its getting power is comming on.
Its not making any sound either, whats wrong?

Put a patch in between the effects send and return. See if the jacks are messed up. If they are the power amp may not be getting a signal.

Ok, just use a guitar cable to do so?

Yes.

Same results, the pilot light (showing theres AC power) isnt comming on.

Check Your master volume and run the guitar Directly into the Effects return Jack. The Pilot LED may just be burnt out (maybe not), the fact that the tubes are lighting lets me know you are getting some sort of power.

You can download that amps manual here.
from : localhost/the fuses. If there are any user accessible.

Exact same thing happened. Its brand ****ing new, why the hell would it have problems?

The fuse is good, and I have the manual, theres nothing about trouble shooting in it.

Anyone else know anything? Because now im worried.

Sounds like you're going to need Scott_F or one of the others. If its new call the shop you got it from and run it by them. If I get any other Ideas I'll post them.

Their shop is 280miles away, I bought it online from elderly.

I dont know a whole lot about tube amps, but it looks like 2 of the powertubes are glowing very very dimly compaired to the preamp tubes (Which are very bright), and 1 isnt lighting up at all.
If someone here can solve this quickly i'd be nice, if not soon, i'll have to call elderly and they'll tell me to send it back. Then I got to wait 2 more weeks to play my amp.... Well, if it needs repaired or the have to order another, it could be up to a 1-2 month wait.

Swap the tubes around and see if the same socket is not lighting or if its just the tube. You may need a set of power tubes. Also how bright is the 4th power tube?

Uhh, This is my 1st time even playing a tube amp, you think I can tear an amp down and do something that serious? I could mess it up and not get my money back.

Did you turn the standy on/off? I know this is obvious but I don't know if you have had a tube amp before. The other thing to try is to hook up another speaker to the Peavy. If you can get some speaker wire and connect it to a external speaker than connect it to the speaker connections on the Peavey. If the Speaker is blown you will get no sound. If you want to test the speaker you can hook up a 9Volt battery to the speaker to -to - it should make a Pop if the speaker is good. IMO though I would return the Amp or at least call them and let them know what trouble you are having. They will probably send you another.

It doesn't take anything to swap the tubes. Just Gently slide the metal retainer off the end of the tube and gently pull the tube out.

(Unpluged and powered down of-course)

At least call the people at elderly and ask them about it. If they cant tell you whats up you can report it doa straight away.

OK OK, I got it, I turn the power on, Then I turn standby on, and it works, the pilot still isnt showing light, but its making sound and playing.

Goes to show always start with the basics.
