I admit it, I'm an amp fanatic. I buy and sell them quickly, but thoroughly enjoy owning killer tube amps. Tomorrow, I'm scoring a brand new, mint Fender Bassman LTD. with great GT tubes, P10R Jensen speakers, laquered tweed, and a bias pot for a measly $700 What a *****in amp!!!!!!

I believe $700 is below dealer cost for that amp. You must have gotten a smokin deal. Id love to have one of those too. Unfortunatly I dont need that kind of power anymore, nor can my ears afford any more damage.

I didn't think Elderly shipped amps. You should build your own man. What fun!

I just grabbed the pics from elderly. I'm stealin it from a local baby! LOL

You are evil!!!!!! LOL!!! Stealing from babies........

very, very good choice

It is a great amp, now you just need to get that Twin amp as well

SWEET!!!

Now you should ship that Matchless to me...to make a little room!

700$ ?????

did they steal it from the factory or something?

cool, I'll get to crank a Bassman LTD when I come up for the Amp Show

tell me how it you think it compares to you Fender Concert Reverb 4x10 after you get it!?

thats a great deal. let me know what you think of that amp. i would like to get one myself one day.

I've never driven SO far to get a piece of gear before! I drove 87 miles from the San Fernando Valley to Riverside Ca. to pick this up. When I got there, I realized the owner was a gearaholic, since he had a great collection of Gibson Historics and vintage Fender Amps. I was salivating over his Gibson collection! He had a Wes Montgomery Signature Jazzbox worth $5000, a 59 LP Historic that was KILLER, and several others. He was sacrificing this Bassman LTD BIGTIME!!!!! It is DEAD MINT, and included all case candy and the cardboard setup sheet that lays over the top of the amp. Also, the high quality cover for it. He bought it 4 months ago at GC for $1250 total, and gave me his reciept! He was also offering me a new 57 American Strat Reissue in two tone ash with maple neck for $600!!!!! I almost went for it, but reminded myself that this amp was a luxury purchase for $700, and I didn't need to fork over $1300 today. I really wanted his strat!!! NICE!!!!!

Anyway, I've been using this Bassman 4-10 all afternoon, and it flat out SMOKES! Right now, I've got my sunburst/rosewood strat w/Chubtone 63 pickups plugged into it. I also bridged the two channels with a jumper cable and am running my EH Holy Grail Reverb unit into the front. This is the greatest blues amp ever made! Just simply great sounding, with the new GT 6L6GE's, my GT Mullard clone 12AX7's, and the Jensen P10R's

You whore.

Now find me a steal on a damn Silver Jubilee 25/50...would ya. Spread some of the love you bastard.

I'm an amp nut! The most beautiful sight in the world is seeing them in a row!
I've got the Bogner Ecstasy halfstack, the Jubilee fullstack, Matchless Chieftain, Bassman LTD., and Vox Valvetronix head, all in a row! Tone Central!!!

Tonight, I had a bunch of people over, listening to the Matchless and Bassman LTD. sitting next to each other, listening to the best EL-34 and 6L6 amp clean amps, comparing the tones of one against the next. They both have their own sound, but both are equally great. The Matchless is a $3200 amp sitting next to a $1200 amp, but both sound SOOOO sweet it's ridiculous!!!! The Bogner and Jubilee have the best gain you could imagine, but the Matchless and Fender are unparalleled, when it comes to clean. Simply great!!!!

good review man!!!

i really want a 6l6 4x10 bad...i wonder how the Quiana 4x10 would compare to the concert reverb and bassman...!?

Cool that is a great amp! I was playing one the other day that had a few tweaks to it and it was moving me big time!

Check out the Mercury Magnetics reissue transformers and SOZO caps. I got the caps, and the trannies are coming for my bassman. After reading the reviews and amp tests, I just had to do it.

If you love it now, it actually may even sound better after these mods! Basing what I'm saying on reviews only though, haven't heard'em yet.

Congrats! I have an original '59 Bassman. Somedays it's the best amp I've ever played through and some days it's not. Isn't that the way?

When I was younger I'd wind up selling great amps because they didn't sound great to me every day! Now I can afford to just plug into something else until a great amp sounds great again to me...

How have you been setting the tone controls? The only thing I don't like about those old tweed Bassman's is that somedays they seem to have way to much bass.

I find that I usually have to set the bass control very low...maybe 2 or 3 tops!

Lew

Hi Lew--I found that as well. I may be able to push 4 on the bass.
