Carr Slant 6v
Sewell Texaverb
Dr Z. Maz 18 jr.
Savage Macht 12
Out of those, I think the Carr Slant 6V is my favorite, although I don't know much about the Sewell. I also like the 6V more than most other Carr models. It's one of the best sounding 6V6 amps I've heard.
Hoss, another amp that might be less expensive, that's surprisingly good is the EL-84 Hughes and Kettner 20W. It's got a nice gain channel and sweet EL-84 chimey clean channel. Less than half the price of a Shiva.

I know a guy that has or had a Texaverb....from what I recall, he loved it.
Lemme see if he still has it amp; maybe he can share some views with ya'.I just sent him an e-mail....not sure if he had the Texaverb or the Texaplex. I'll let ya' know.
thanks for the suggestion Joe...i'll check it out!
i take clips on websites with a grain of salt but........that Carr slant 6v sounds absolutely AMAZING....I LOVE THOSE CLIPS, but i also am drawn to the Shiva...in a perfect world (and based on clips and reviews from people who have them) i would own the Slant 6v and the Shiva EL-34 and either a Franklin or Maz 18 jr.and yeah terry any firsthand insight on the Sewell would be cool!

Beware, if you choose the Dr.Z those little bastards are LOUD.

the Carr Slant 6v is very blues/rock/crunch...check out the sound clips on the sight...there are quite a few...scroll down the the Slant 6v sound files from : localhost/www.carramps.com/carrframeset.html
Hoss man, you are looking for serious amps! I can't wait to see what you end up buying.
i dunno man...i've sold alot of gear the past couple years...basically all of it...and i just wanna find something that i will cherish for years to come ya know?
i don't wanna say i deserve it, but you know what i'm saying right?
Right on.
I don't know how far you live from St. Louis you could go here and check out a bunch of high end amps? But you probably have access to those amps closer to where you live.
Wow they do have alot of killer stuff!!!!!!
can i afford to get one of these...no not really (and not at all if not for expected tax returns)...do my quot;skillzquot; warrant such an amp...not at all (they actually warrant something along the lines of a quot;Roguequot;...
but...i play almost completely for my own enjoyment...maybe playing out once or twice a year...so i want it purely for my own ears...and if i start playing at church (they asked me to but i'll probably play acoustic mostly) i want something small but something nice.
