Hey guys.. I've got a DD in the bridge of my RG guitar.. I don't yet, but I will have.. ANyway, in the past I could clean it up almost if I turned it down almost all the way.. I thought maybe it wasn't as sensitive because the pot of that guitar was like 250k or something.. Maybe it was a 1/2meg.. I'm wondering if it would be easier to control the pickup with say a 1 meg or 2 meg volume pot? What's the benefit and what's the drawback? What can one do to not loose the treble when turning down the volume? I hate it when it gets muddy when you clean up the guitar with the volume knob too? I thought there was some kind of capacitor you can buy and hook up to the volume pot?
Ok, Also, what's a good neck pup that will have enough output in it yet be good with harmonics etc, and go with my DD bridge pup? I'm thinking maybe the 59? Hell, I don't know.. Please help.. hehe.. I also thought about a Dimarzio PAF pro?
Tim
Well, using higher Value Volume controls will brighten up the sound of your pickups...
The treble bleed mod you are describing can be made by putting a capacitor across the Volume pot from the lug where the pup goes in to the lug that goes to hot.
As the DD is a high output pup, I'd say the JB jr or Hot Rails would be a good match.
Thanks so much man.. I really appreciate it..
