I have a ibanez sz520 and going with the SH-5 custom in the bridge. But can't choose for the neck. I want to have the vintage tone for stuff like hendrix and Zeppelin but still be able to play metal and sound right. Thanks for any input.
Hendrix disn't use humbuckers unless you're talking about his occasional use of a Flying V. And most of Page's classic tones were done with a Tele...not a Les Paul with humbuckers. Regardless, I think you'd like the slightly brighter, slightly clearer tone of the Jazz Neck humbucker, based on the tone descriptions you seem to be after. Lew
I have to say that I'm happy w/ the '59N in my Ibanez S470. It cleans up real nice, sounds good when split, has pretty good bass, and it has a pretty fat lead tone. I haven't tried the Jazz, but like I said, I'm happy w/ the '59.

Lew, didn't Page only use the Tele on Led Zeppelin I ?
As for the '59 neck, I'm thinking about adding one as well. I just put a '59 in the bridge position of my SG and I'm pretty happy with it. I also plugged a Pearly Gates in the neck, but I'm thinking of maybe swapping it for a '59. What do you think sounds better for an SG? I use my neck pup alot, especially for clean, bluesy leads.
Both would work well, the Jazz will be clearer and more articulate, but the '59 has that vintage mojo.
Please don't forget about the Pearly Gates... I have found it to be more pleasing in the neck to me than either the Jazz or the 59' IMHO
