I called Rio Grande pickups today to get info on the BBQ. They said that the spacing would be perfect for my Gibson. I have a trembucker in there now and it fits perfect. They said that a trembucker would not fit right. My buddy has a 70s model LP and it lines up with regular spaced pickups. I know the Gibson pups are in between. I asked Rio pickups if I could use a Gibson cover and they said no. Whats the deal? If trembuckers line up great in my 1994 LP classic then will the BBQ?

Do you know what their string spacing is on the BBQ?

I know from personal experience that with the Nashville (Schaller) Bridge, you can get away with either spacing with no problem.

On the other hand, the Rio Grande BBQ is essentially the same as DiMarzio Standard spacing meaning, narrower than a Gibson and surely, a Duncan. I have had problems with Rio Grandes and standard spaced DiMarzios lining up in the bridge position of my Gibsons with Nashville bridges although with the Gibson ABR-1 bridge, the strings did in fact, barely line up over the pole pieces.

I have a Tonepros locking bridge on the LP I think its nashville spacing? My new nickel covered tb-6 fits perfectly. I may be selling the tb-6 as its a little hot for my tastes.

Before installing the BBQ, I had the factory JB/'59 set in my Hamer Studio with a Tuneomatic bridge. The JB sounded fine, but it never really lined up perfectly with the strings. When I installed the BBQ, the alignment was almost perfect, much better than it was with the standard spaced Duncan. I compared the BBQ with a trembucker spaced Duncan that I had lying around, and the trembucker was spaced a little wider. So the guy you talked to was correct, it will be a perfect fit. Since they don't offer different spacings, Rio Grande makes their pickups so that they're slightly wider than standard spacing, but not quite as wide as trembucker spacing.
