Hi, all. I got a new candy apple red Ibanez Destroyer last week. Cool. Great. I opened the box to scan it over and...if I'll be damned, the neck pick-up wasn't screwed into the pot, it was just hanging around in there. So, I loosened all the strings and got to work getting the pick-up properly installed. Easy enogh but annoying nonetheless. The truss rod was really tight when I set it up,too. That's no big deal-you expect that. However, leaving the neck-pickup in the state I found it in is unexcusable. Hello? Quality control? How can you miss that? Funny thing, there was a sticker on the back on the guitar detailing who inspected the guitar (for quality control) before it was shipped. So, I felt like sending an email off to Ibanez just to blog about my guitar, but alas, I couldn't locate any email address to complain about such things...they ahd an email address for everything else, not that I could find anyway. Anyway, I love Ibanez Destroyers, especially since they aren't nek heavy like some other explorer type guitars. Plays great and I do like the stock INF3 amp; 4 pick-ups. Would love to have one with a sunburst finish like Dave Murry played on the Beast on the Road tour. Bob
Destroyers are sweet.
I want to get one.
How much $$$ did it cost you?
Sounds like Gibson's quality control on their expensive models.
I saw this orange 4 string bass destroyer. It was hot. I don't play bass enough to buy a new one though lol.

LOL!!!!!
So true!!
Most newer Ibanez's aren't really inspected worth a flip.......
However the older ones ('80 to '83) were absolutely built to actually be played... I really thought about getting one of the new Destroyer's, but was rather disappointed in the quality of them...(sounds like what you experienced)
I have a '81, 2 - '82s, a '83 and a '84 DestroyerII...all of which (except the '84) play better than almost anything currently available....
just Fwiw...
there are actually some on Ebay, but you have to know what to look for to get the decent ones..

Nothing intonated, truss rods loose..., strings a mile off the board, all on some expensive gear!

Hey, I paid roughly $400 ($397 actual) for my Destroyer. I'll propably buy another in a few months and throw in some SD pick-ups, however I'd likeit they put out a model with more elaborate inlays and locking tuners. I cant say I really like the ones with the vintage amber finish.
