I just got back from church camp, and the guitarist played a quot;Les Paulquot; Epiphone. I guess I was the only on that noticed that he had to retune it after every song. What I didnt understand is that he had a Stratocaster on a stand right beside him. I guess the illusion of a Les Paul is more important than tone these days.
I could tell he had factory pickups and tuners, and I was so tempted to go up to him and tell him to get himself some pickups and some Planet Wave tuners, but he had a shield of girlies around him, so I was unable to show him the light.
It still bugs me that he had a Fender right beside him and he never touched it.
does jesus REALLY play epiphone...?

Nope, he made his own flat top and arch top acoustic guitars on which he plays. The arch top has a p90, which he uses to wail like there was no tomorrow.

Epi's need help for sure.... They may look like a Les Paul but they sure don't have the quality of a Gibson version... My Epi LP is pretty crap.... looks amazing but the electronics are total junk.... i'm ripping all the **** out of it and redoing it right... Thank god i got it for $200Canadian for a sunburst LP Standard...... It had a broken neck that i repaired.. next is to repair the electronics.

(dirrected to xeromus) BUUUUUUUUUUURN!!
Epi's are great; minus the tuners amp; pickups and...well, they are just not gibson les pauls and don't sound like em for the most part.
good backup guitars for gibson les pauls though
I have a Japan Epi LP and it's made as good as my 70's Gibby LP. Long tennon neck joint and flawless finish. I got it from Wattage who upgraded the electronics and Duncan pups. It rocks...maybe even better than some new Gibsons. The stock tuners hold just fine too.

Let's hope not, arrives tuesday. If not I'm happy with it, it's going right back.
Epiphones are pretty nice. Sure, they're not as high on the wood quality as a Gibson is but for their price range, they are good. The tuners on mine are sealed Grovers (came stock), the pickups aren't that bad but are being changed to Duncans. The wiring and pots and switch aren't that great, I agree, but easily changed. Like anything, you really have to play several of them to find the right one. The only thing they have in common with a Gibson is the shape. You can't compare the two, different price ranges put them in two separate classes. It's like comparing a Chevy to a Porsche.
My Epi Tony Iommi kicks booty!
I once had a musical director ban my Sheraton from rehearsal because I had to keep retuning it. But that had as much to di with the fact that it was semi-hollow and the orchestra pit was right by a set of bay doors that kept being opened as it did with the cheap stock tuners.
Still, though, when other import brands manage to put decent Grovers on instruments costing LESS than an Epi, you've got to wonder just how much you're paying for the Gibson name, even when you're not getting a Gibson.
i guess you havent played my Les Paul then
