I'm looking for a pickup that'd fit an Alder wood soloist bolt on shape, while still retaining tight and thick bass... So far I thought about the Invader. Its bass would in a way add to the brightness and I'd get best of both worlds, but I don't know enough about this to comment. Tips? Thanks for any help
Try a custom, I've got one in a jackson pro with similar specs and I can't believe how good it sounds. I've got another one in a mahogany Ibanez but it sounds better in the jackson. I don't have any experience with the invader but the custom sounds pretty much like what you're after.
i have a c5 in my carvin cd127 with maple thru alder sides. love it to death. deep tight springy bottem end.
I also got advised a DiMarzio Tone Zone. Do you think it'd be good in Alder?
So so far I have: Invader, Custom, Custom 5 and Tone Zone.
See that bad boy in my avatar lt;--------. it has an Invader and the thing absolutely rumbles. Huge, thick, driving bottom end. Tons of overdrive, the thing has balls. It is decently quot;tightquot; too, probably not as tight as a Custom though. The Tone Zone is a great pickup too. Think JB with slightly more output and slightly more bottom end.
Would a split Invader clean up nicely with the volume pot rolled off? How about those other suggestions?
