Well, after a wild goose chase to find pickup mounting screws/springs, the body is FINALLY done. Who knew that would be the hardest part to acquire? I place the blame on a few fools at the local shops, and the US postal system (priority mail shipping from a neighboring state shouldn't take a week or more).
I also had to bore out the knob for the blender pot just a bit, as it's a completely solid shaft with no splines, something I'd personally never seen before. After discovering I had the tone control working backwards and fixing that, all the electronics seem to functioning perfectly. That just leaves the neck, which should be done this coming week. I've been told all it needs now is to have the fretboard radiused, frets installed, and final hand sanding.looks great fretfire.....gonna be a beauty when it's done....not a big fan of that color (I prefer natural colors and sunbursts), but man it's coming together well...I'll be almost as glad to see it finished as you will I'm sure....so what's gonna be on the headstock? do you have a custom label or anything?
I like it!
I've had my own issues with the Postal System, what a joke! The guitar looks great though!

A little more quot;mequot; that way, plus I'm a sucker for green and blue . As far as I know the headstock will just stay blank, I don't really have any ideas for a quot;logoquot; or anything. I'm assuming the neck will have a pretty strong grain pattern on it though (birdseye maple) so I'm not too worried about it.
you need a custom label man....every guitar needs a label, or it just looks cheap...in my own opinion of course
I've definitely been tossing the idea around, just haven't found or thought of anything I really like. If I think of something in the next couple weeks, before it's time to spray it, I just might do it .
Is that 2 different colors?

i'm about to join you with my own strat project...i just scored a fairly hard to come by color MIM strat body off of ebay so it's time to build a strat clone of my main tele! yours is looking good, i can't wait to see how the neck finishes it off!
-Mike
Sweet mang! Care to share which color?
oh yeah sorry thought i wrote that lol no huge secret as it's the same as my main tele...it's pewter which is odd to come by on a MIM body i have only seen it on US made and the clapton strats. that's why i dove on it when i saw a BIN so i can build a strat clone of my tele and have twins lol. now to find a good all maple neck. i ment to ask, what bridge did you use on your project?

Well, since it's an MIM body and I didn't really want to fill/redrill holes, I just got a regular MIM bridge (couldn't find anything else to fit that spacing) and replaced the block and mount screws with parts from Callaham, and the saddles with Graphtec Ferraglides. The only stock part now is the plate.
That color should be killer!
ahh cool, that's my same plan for my bridge...callaham and graphtech...i'm actually going to take all the hardware off of one of my other MIM strats to build this project up and sell the MIM body and neck to pay for some of the parts. i can't tell in the pics...do those ferra glide saddles look like real chrome in person or are they a bit satin like the US made fender saddles?
-Mike
They're a bit satin, actually I'd be more inclined to call them brushed if that makes sense. They are shiny, but they have that brushed appearance to them.
I thought you were building a JS.

I SWEAR one of these day's I'll start building my superstrat! And it'll look that good, dammit!
