Hi, i've never gotten a clear answer on this question. I have a fender standard telecaster and was thinking of throwing a STHR-1 hot rail into the bridge. when looking at pictures of the hot rail is looks kinda big, but supposedly it is a replacement for the tele. What i'm wondering is if i need to do anything to my guitar to make it fit, such as carve something out or change the pickguard?

No you don't have to carve something or replace the pickguard. Doesn't your current pickup mount in the bridge unit?

welcome to the forum!!

the tele hot rails bridge should be a direct replacement for a std tele bridge pup but the sound will be quite different. are you planning on installing it yourself?

No, I have a friend who can help me install it. But he has never dealt with a hot rail before and he said i might have to carve a piece out of the guitar?

You may have an issue with polarity.. if so, you can reverse the black and white wires on the guitar.

I had problems putting it on a mexi standard tele, it was a tight squeeze getting it into the bridge. Have to be careful it doesn't push the tape off or worse break a wire. Just take your time and it will work out.

And it will growl with some authority, i'll have you know! For fun, make sure you split it too, cause the split sound is fairly useful, and bares fewer teeth...
