A couple weeks ago I changed the strings on my JV and picked up some Dunlop big stubbies at the recommendation of Zhanglin.

The JV came with Fender 250L 9's, I changed to Fender Super Bullet 10's. Great improvement. Nicer, sweeter tone on the unwound strings at the upper frets. Sounds fuller plugged and very noticeable when unplugged. Before the unplugged sound was so thin. Problem solved. But, I think I need to take it in for a truss rod adjustment. The wound strings buzz from about the 11th fret and higher. With the trem floating the thickers strings really don't feel much thicker or tighter. Even with 5 springs in the trem. Yea for floating trems.

I am beginning to really like the 3.0mm stubby picks. They are much easier for me to hold and comfortable. I haven't really noticed a tone diff because of the pick but perhaps that's because I changed picks and strings at the same time. I test between the old mediums and the stubbies and check.

There you go. For What its worth

3mm Stubby picks are the fastest picks for me, too. I like them a lot. Feels like as I played with glass, in a good mean.

Compared to the 1mm Fender oval triangle celluloids I'm using now, Stubby picks have a somewhat darker tone. The Fender puts a little SNAP attack that I need. But, if there's Stubby in the bag, it makes me completely happy, too

yeah i use stubbys too, fastest pick for me, i like em

I'm a big quot;big stubbyquot; fan . My favourite sizes are 1.0 and 2.0mm. Before I used the jazz 3, but with the stubbies I have more control each pick...

I've used the 2mm stubby picks for years gt; I'm finding it really hard to play properley with anything else!

I did recommend the Stubbies but I don't like the 3mm's -- it's almost like playing with the other end of the pick. The 2mm's are just right. The little circle indents on the sides make it easier to hold, nice extra feature.

I decided if I'm gonna try the Stubby, I want to go all the way. But, I'll add some 2mm's to my arsenal in the future. I want be like Mr. Zhanglinqun. (BTW, is that Chinese for quot;I'm a Strat Player?quot;).

The Stubbies haven't made me faster or a shredder yet. I am still playing at the usual Guitar Toad speed so far. I'll work on getting faster. But, I don't really what to be a shredder. I simply want to play the notes that I do hit really well, whatever speed the note needs. I want to be more musical more than fast. I mean no disrespect to the shredders in the forum. Just mentioning a personal preference. I love to hear shredders play. But, I ain't ever gonna be one.
