While I was in Vegas, I went to Guitar Center and played a Fender Standard MIM Tele and I LOVED it! The feel was right, and the tone was oh soo...Beatles-esque! It was a pleasure to play, as far as my vintage guitar playing fetishes were concerned Now here's the twist: I also played the USA stuff like the Butterscotch RI and didn't think anything of it. They just didn't feel right or sound right to me. They weren't duds either, I just didn't have a firm liking for those MIA Teles, I guess In any case, this was quite strange to me because this is probably the first time I've preferred the lower-end model of a single guitar brand to the higher-end model I also loved the Daisy Rock guitars. Felt really smooth in my nimble fingers, with an economic fit to the body. Really dug them, the tone was right, the feel was superb, and the look...well, you'd have to win a coupla guitar battles to be safe playing that in public! Hahaha, but I plan to do something of the like, should I decide to get one.The last thing I played was a Crate V-Series. I was completely blown away. These amps have a very pleasing clean channel, and an even MORE pleasing gain structure. The tone reminded me of a lot of '70s rock, and occasionally The Beatles when the gain was rolled down. Fairly Marshall-esque, I'd say, but overall just very sweet and natural. I would get my hands on these amps if I could, their tone really justifies all the hype.Oh you poor sap with those Daist Rock guitars haha I kid I kid, and I played one of those Crate V series at the Gibson Factory in Nashville for literally a whole week all day everyday while the women shopped. Sounded amazing and I actually didn't know it was a Crate till months after and I was blown away.
I've never been to GC in Vegas, but I could LIVE at Ed Roman's World's Largest Guitar Store! It truly is the best guitar store I've ever walked into! Despite what people say about him on the net, his store is really something.
SNOBS! I tell you. I keep telling you guys how good those amps are but do you listen? NO!

So my girlfriend has made me a nice fancy vest for my Symphony concerts and such, but today at Walmart we got an idea. What about making a funky cloth cover for my guitar. Made of some really soft material that's fuzzy or whatever I wanted! Anybody know of anyone that makes these? I would really like to have a black cloth cover for my schecter cuz the paint is already getting worn down since it's just a satin finish. Sound like a good idea? Pointers? But I'd really like to know if anybody makes these!
They were out in the 80's and were called AxSak's or something like that. I think they paid Jennifer Batten to endorse them, her big credit at the time was working with Michael Jackson.
They were about as useless as tits on a bull then. I'm not thinking anything much has changed since.

Ok ive put down my Singlecut long enough to take some pixs of my 8 month old lump o wood.
Its a 2003 handmade USA Bernie Rico Jr Sinister Custom. Build number 01 03 03. As far as im aware theres only 5 of these in the worls at this time, and only one in this colour/finish/specs.
Its a mahogony body with a highly carved flamed maple top. (stunning!) Mahogony neck thru with an ebony fretboard. The inlays are what he calls his 3D stars, quite a bit different than your average dot or block inlay.

Tonight, I did a preamp tube shootout, just to see what pre tubes are the KING of high gain. The test amp was my extremely good sounding 50W Marshall Jubilee on Jubilee 4-12 w/Vin 30's and Tesla JJ E-34L's (10% higher output than EL-34's)
I actually lined up my whole collection of preamp tubes and started popping them in one after the next in the 1st position. The other 2 are GT12AX7C's.
I listened to the amp's gain from 3 to 10, and listened for thickness, tightness, and sustain on chords and high notes.

I`ve been looking at a MIM Tele that I`m pretty sure is made of Poplar. How does Poplar compare to Alder or Basswood. What are some good pickup choices for getting a nice warm crunch tone in a Poplar bodied guitar. Single coils,Stacked Single coils,Hums anything you think that would work in the bridge. I`ve read in an old post that Alnico 2 magnets work good in Poplar?
Poplar wood is closer to Alder in tone and weight. It normally has
green streaks in it. It's not really good for translucent finishes. It has
very little grain and a green Hue to it. It's fine for a Opaque finish.

So, how many guitars have you owned over the years including the ones you own now. Last time I counted it was like 150 spanning almost 30 years. Mostly Gibson, Fender, and Gamp;L but I played Ibanez and Kramer pretty hard back in the 80's and had my share of those too. Lately I have been getting into Jackson/Charvel and ESP and most recently Dean. I also have had a couple of Agiles and come and go in the last couple of months - cool guitars for the price incidentally. Just searching for the mojo man
Let's hear about yours!
I still have all of mine, so 5.

I'm checking out a couple of used guitars and I've got it down to these two - Both guitars have similar neck profiles (I love the vintage chunky necks), the taurus has a little more high end zing and the goldtop oozes sexy thick rock tones - what do I do, what do I do?????
Anything else I should be looking at before I lay down a couple grand??
The Goldtop RI is a great bang for the buck, and it's dead sexy. That's my first choice.

I am talking about the two single coils..........the two quot;stickersquot; the one that says BAQ and the other HIG could be of any help??????? Are they emg SAs??????????Those aren't SA's. The SA's in my strat have gold logos. Maybe they're the S model.
I dunno, they look a little gold to me. It'd probably be a little easier to identify them in person.
SA= gold logo

The salesperson at the guitar store I shop at recommended a Screamin Demon (b) and hot rails for the (n) and (m).
I have MIM Fender Fat Strat with an alder body and maple neck. I have a VOX Valvetronix 15w practice amp.
I want to play metal, punk, and grunge.
